The Magic School Bus

The Magic School Bus will always have a special place in my heart for many different reasons. The number one reason is because I’m a mother now and motherhood has changed my sense of value on things. I think The Magic School Bus: Field Trip Fun and Games would be a smart choice for any parent due to the educational value alone. This series has always been about teaching science to a younger demographic and making it FUN.

I had very fond memories of watching this series when I was kid. The best part is that I currently get to share that nostalgic experience with my four year old daughter. I know their target demographic is 5 to 7 year old kids, but this will hold my child’s attention for a while, and as I mentioned before, she’s only 4.

Another reason this gets my “Mommy Approval,” is because there is NO VIOLENCE. It promotes morally good, and responsible, role models for my little girl. I would like to think, if we had a play date with children of both genders and they were from the ages of 2 to 7 years old, this would probably be something we could all agree on. When I say “all,” I mean adults included. Not only is this educational and engaging for the children, it’s also enjoyable for adults as well. It’s funny, it’s warm (NOT like a lot of other children’s T.V. shows that get your child’s attention solely by playing loud, obnoxious songs), the voices of the characters are familiar (Lily Tomlin, Wynona Judd, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and my favorite – Dolly Parton). I know I will always remember the transforming bus, Miss Frizzle dressed in her wacky, episode themed ensembles, along with “Liz” her pet lizard, as we embarked on an adventure to explore the depths of a volcano, or flew in a rocket to the moon and back. Knowing that you’re giving the gift of imagination AND knowledge, to your child is priceless.

The Magic School Bus: Field Trip Fun and Games, gives you more than 5 hours of education and entertainment, comes with 3 DVD’s (12 episodes total, 3 episodes on each DVD), and includes 3 bonus episodes from The Magic School Bus: Blast Off! Sea to Space set. (That’s like getting an extra DVD for free!) I honestly feel you get way more than your money’s worth with this set. I also know that not every parent can afford to purchase The Magic School Bus: Field Trip Fun and Games for around $25.00. That amount can be a pricey investment for a lot of families. I was grateful to find out that you have your options! You can also buy the DVD’s individually (for around $13.00 each). I will certainly be recommending this to several of my friends.
