Let’s Go Exploring

People around here – Toronto – say that you’ve never really experienced a proper winter unless you’ve lived through a Toronto winter. Okay, no one has probably ever said that except me, but it gives you an idea of just how cold Toronto, Canada winters get.

Just in case you didn’t know, they get really cold. For this reason, I’m here to talk to you about two winter clothing products from Snowsuits for Kids: Columbia Double Flake Reversible Snowsuit for boys, and Columbia Alpine Glow Ski Jacket for girls.

Columbia Double Flake Reversible Snowsuit for boys

Columbia ski jacket

Winters here get so cold that I took sheer delight in letting my children – a boy, aged two, and a girl, aged six – try on their new snow suits, the Double Flake Reversible Snowsuit for my son, and Columbia’s Alpine Glow Ski Jacket for my daughter, when temperatures dropped to below zero recently. We were able to get out there and have a whole lot of fun despite the cold.

It’s great playing outdoors in the snow with your kids, and it’s nice to take them out even on the coldest days, and these particular pieces of winter clothing from Snowsuits for Kids allow you to do just that, guaranteeing warmth and protection against the elements.

Functional

The Double Flake Reversible Winter insulated snowsuit acts as a winter jacket and snow bib, and they are made of waterproof fabric and come with 170g insulation, which means that your child is protected from even the harshest of winters. They come with an adjustable storm hood, and the bib and jacket comes with durable polyester shell, which means they are excellent at moisture management. Polyester doesn’t absorb water and therefore the snowsuit as a result is less wet and cold in poorer weather conditions than, say, snow suits made from nylon.

The suits are also extremely lightweight so that your child can bounce around in them without feeling weighed down by heavy clothing. The snow suits offer warmth, but that doesn’t mean they make the child feel uncomfortable.

The Alpine Glow Ski Jacket, which is suitable for girls aged 7-16, comes in a classic style that has that cool chic look for girls who are starting to mature and care about how they look. My daughter loves this jacket both for its style and the warmth it gives her. It comes with a removable fur-rimmed hood that offers coziness in the face of bad weather, down-fill insulation that separates cold from the warmth whilst contributing to the lightweight material of the coat, as well as comfort cuffs.

Cold

I know from experience, what with living in Toronto, how painfully cold the weather can be and how how much of a dilemma it can be as a parent to take your child out into freezing conditions. You look out of the window and ask, ‘Should I really take my child out there? Hec, should I even take myself out there?’

But this set of winter clothing I received offers plenty of warmth and gives you the confidence to go outside with your kids. Moreover, both the Double Flake Reversible Winter Snowsuit and the Alpine Glow Ski Jacket come with Omni-Shield, which is patented clothing technology from Columbia that provides both water and wind resistance. The brand’s tagline in this regard is ‘Go Ahead. Try To Get Dirty.’

My two year-old son somehow must have seen and understood the tagline on the company’s website when I left the laptop on, because he did, indeed, try to get dirty – on a few occasions – but his snowsuit stood up against the elements. My daughter, on the other hand, was as cool and chic as ever. Like, whatever …

Long Lasting

My son’s suit, though, is a little to big for him at the moment and he will need time to grow into it. My daughter’s ski jacket perfectly, and it looks absolutely adorable on her. These jackets come in a range of colors, and we chose the rose one for my daughter. Either way, the Alpine Glow Ski Jackts from Columbia always look smart and trendy whatever color scheme you choose.

I do recommend purchasing Double Flake Reversible Winter Snow Suits that are slightly larger for babies so they can grow into them, and, with the addition of OutgrownTM clothing technology, your child’s snow suit can be adjusted to keep up with their growth. This makes them fantastic value for money and can be used for 2-3 winters. Overall, both sets of winter clothing from Columbia are designed to last and to give you as a parent the confidence to take your kids out and go exploring!
