Keep Your Baby Clean with Silibib from Silikids

In this digital age, chances are we have all seen pictures of a friend’s child covered in food on our Facebook or Instagram. Such messes make for funny photos. They do not, however, make day to day life all that easy.

I remember when my son first started eating solid food. At first, I could laugh at the messes. I would strip him down to his diaper and then let him go to town. But I quickly discovered that getting him clean wasn’t as easy as it seemed. Who knew there were so many places for bits of food to hide? And if I didn’t get it off immediately I would need to scrub and scrub away. He would get angry and I would worry that I was irritating his delicate skin. Then, as he began eating solids more frequently, the time needed to undress, clean, and redress multiple times a day became too much. I needed an alternative solution to meal time.

There are many bibs on the market. Chances are you go plenty of cute ones at your baby shower—I certainly did. Embroidered with phrases like “Handsome Like Daddy” or “Things are Going to Get Messy”, they can make your baby seem that much cuter. Until they get covered in food. The process of cleaning them can be painful and they will likely end up stained after the first feeding or two. Then there are the plastic ones. These are much more functional, but they do not tend to be very stiff and not all that cute.

This is where Silikids and their Silibib comes in. These bibs are both plastic—and therefore practical—and cute. Rather than the stiff, hard plastic of most offerings, these bibs are made from a soft, flexible silicone. They lay nice and flat against my son so that they do not catch on the high chair tray as easily. When he does lean forward and manage to catch them, they bend easily instead of pressing against his throat. When it is time to clean, they wipe off fast and easily. When I am feeling a little lazy, I can just pop them in the dishwasher with his spoon and plate. And, unlike most plastic bibs, it is safe to sterilize through boiling.

Also very important is the fact that it is super cute. Ours are green with a simple turquoise blue design. There is also a pink and white version available through their website.

In addition to their Silibib, Silikids also offers a variety of feeding accessories. There are sippy cups available as well as a silicone top which can be used to replace the top on the sippy or to convert other cups to sippy cups. The sippy base is also available separately to be used as a transition cup. Finally, they offer easy to clean placemats with a map of the United States printed on it. You can enjoy dinner and work in a bit of education.

Take some time to check out the Silikids website. I’m sure you won’t be able to get away without purchasing at least a few items!
