As a Mom our household has been through A LOT of pencil sharpeners. The manual varieties and electric ones too! Usually after about a month they are broken and I’m out on the hunt for another brand.
So when I received the chance to try out a manual pencil sharpener from Classroom Friendly Supplies I was super excited.
The Look & Feel: I love the old school retro look of the sharpener. It takes me back to my elementary school days. I use to love the feel and touch of a brand new sharpened pencil in my hand and practicing my writing. My son is not a fan of mechanical pencils, so this was definitely a good product to test out. The sharpener comes in five colors and I chose to check out the one in firehouse red, which is quite pretty. The sharpener has a sturdy metal frame and feels like it’s well-made in your hand.

Easy Peasy: The sharpener is very easy to get the hang of and you may be surprised that after you sharpen the first pencil and it comes out perfect, you’ll want to keep sharpening more and more. Yep as you are probably guessing, we had a pencil cup of dozens of freshly sharpened pencils after that. My son was often saying “Mom where is that pencil sharpener.”
Can You Hear That? You would think with a pencil sharpener of this size it would sound very loud grinding away at the pencil. Not so. Remarkably the pencil sharpener was very quiet and the sound of the pencil being sharpened was not annoying in the least. If this sharpener was placed in a classroom, teachers could continue their lessons, while students sharpened their pencils without being disruptive.
Special Features: What’s really cool about the sharpener, is that it takes the guesswork of when the pencil is sharpened to perfection. The sharpener automatically stops once the perfect point is formed. This prevents over sharpening and helps save money.
Another special feature is that the sharpener has a clear plastic tray for easy cleaning. Who wants pencil shavings everywhere right? The tray releases very easily and you just drop the shaving in your nearby trashcan.
Also the sharpener can be portable, or it also comes with a clamp and you can mount it to a surface.
Moms I definitely recommend this pencil sharpener from Classroom Friendly Supplies. The money you pay over electric sharpeners, it’s virtually the same, but this pencil sharpener will never run out of batteries. My son and I absolutely love that witheach and every pencil, we always got a perfect point.
