How to Make Chinese Dumplings | Chinese New Year Food

Chinese New Year is just around corner. Chinese Dumpling (Jiaozi) is a traditional Chinese food and is one of the most important foods in Chinese New Year. In this video, I will show you how to make the dumpling wrappers and make pan-fried dumplings (Jiao Zi).

Ingredients:
For the Wrappers,
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups water
1/3 tsp salt

For the Filling,
1/2 lb. lean ground pork
1/2 lb. chopped pea vines
1/4 tsp ground white pepper (optional)
3/4 tbsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp sesame oil

Instruction
1. Mix the flour, salt, and water together in a large bowl until you make a nice, smooth dough.
2. Separate the dough into about 15 or more equal pieces for the dumplings.
3. Simply use your hand to pick up one piece of dough and pound it into the board to make a small circular disc. Then, use a rolling pin to smooth out each disc until it’s about 3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter.
4. Scoop the filling onto each wrapper.
5. Fold the sides together, crimping (pressing together) the dough with your fingers to seal the contents inside.
6. Heat cooking oil
7. Place the first batch of dumplings on the pan and make them apart enough so that they don’t stick together.
8. Add some flour
9. Add a small bowl of water to the pan and heat it over high heat. Cover the skillet and let it steam until the water has completely evaporated.
10. Fry the dumplings for 2-3 minutes, until their bottoms are light brown.
11. Serve with vinegar. Mmm~Yummy~
