Getting things in the mail is a ton of fun for any kid. It’s exciting because it’s something to open that’s just for them. It’s like getting a gift! How can you spice up the excitement even more? By anticipation.
When I first heard of the idea behind the Hasbro Top Secret Box that contains some new collectible toys I knew it would be a great fit for my kids. It was just too cool too pass up, so I jumped into it and I’m so happy I did! It was so much fun watching their faces light up throughout the entire process.
When the box was delivered and my daughter and son saw it was for them, they were so excited. It was quite contagious! However, the box comes with a chain around it and the outside gives no clue to what’s on the inside. The words “Top Secret” only hype thing up.
My daughter immediately tried opening it but quickly found she couldn’t. She asked for my help. I played along and tried my best to open it too. Then her little brother tried. No luck!
“It looks like they forgot to send us the key!” I said (just pretending).
They were both quite disappointed at first, but I told them I would send an email asking for them to send the key asap. (The key to open the lock is actually automatically sent and received about a few days after the box). We put the box in a special place and a little while later, I told them I had received a response from the toy company. I pretend to read them an apology email about how the key would be sent right away and that the contents of the box were super!
Everyday they asked about the key. Had it arrived yet? Would it come later today? The anticipation was killing them! It only got them more excited about what could be inside. We spent a few dinners as a family speculating what it could be.
Then the day had arrived! Both of my kids were literally jumping up and down with excitement. My daughter unlocked the chain and lifted the lid. Inside were 8 Lock Stars. Lock Stars are small figurines that can lock on to just about anything. They are really cool and unique. Each Lock Star package comes with the mystery pal lock, two keys and two charms, one of which is hidden in the belly of the Lock Star! Use one of the keys to discover what it is!
Kids can lock the Lock Stars pals onto their backpacks, shoelaces, bedposts, anything they want! It’s up to them. There are 48 Lock Stars in the collection, so there are many more to get! Collecting special items such as Lock Stars is really fun no matter what age. It’s fun that doesn’t end. Each new addition is exciting and when you have them all you can show them off.
The entire experience of this secret box is top-notch. From the thrilling wait at the beginning, to choosing where to put the Lock Stars, to swapping them with friends, the fun never ever ends!
