I have always been wishing for more easily available healthy snack options, more than ever. I really want all of us moms to have the power to obtain healthy and wholesome consumer goods for our families, so much so that I wish all unhealthy food products would vanish from the market forever. So when I heard of snack-packed olives in kid-sized servings, I felt like my wish is starting to come true. I mean, would you expect the market to offer snacking olives for kids? I’m so glad that Sardo Foods did!

I’m so delighted to add Li’l Oliver Pitted Green and Li’l Oliver Pitted Black Olives to my kids’ back-to-school lunchbox menu, because their enticingly cute packaging is perfectly convenient for lunchboxes! It’s no mess to eat because there’s no leaky brine, so little fingers can easily grab and bite. But there are more reasons to have Li’l Oliver in their regular diet because it’s free from trans fats, gluten, cholesterol, artificial flavours and colouring. It has a mild taste which is palatable for kids but still true to its olive taste. lil oliver

So what’s the difference between the green and black olive snack packs from Li’l Oliver? Let me make it clear that they both taste yummy, they’re both plump and juicy so each serving is filling enough, and they’re both only 20 calories and up to 2 grams of fat per serving. Based on the nutrition facts, the black olives pack has iron as much as 4% of the average daily requirement, and 1 gram of carbohydrates. While the green one which is made of Spanish green olives, has zero carbs. But nonetheless, they’re both packed with so much nutrients and health benefits.

All kinds of olives are rich in numerous kinds of phytonutrients, which deliver likewise numerous benefits to almost all systems of the body, and have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Oleuropein, for example, is a key phytonutrient exclusively found in olives, and is known to help reduce LDL cholesterol levels and protect nerve cells from oxygen-related damage.
  • Hydroxytryrosol, another key phytonutrient, has properties that are known to prevent cancer, and has been recently found to help prevent bone loss.
  • Oleic acid, a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid from olives, helps reduce blood pressure and the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
  • The list of health benefits from olive is too long for this post! But if you think olive oil alone would suffice to get all these benefits, don’t take for granted the fibre, iron, and other vitamins and minerals present in the olive fruit.

Li’l Oliver Pitted Green and Li’l Oliver Pitted Black Olives each come in a pack of six handy snacking cups at 15 grams per serving. And each pack has a free sticker inside! I’m just so happy that the healthy goodness of olives are now available for on-the-go snacking with Li’l Oliver for my kids. Having this in their school snack plan expands their appreciation of different flavours, with nutrient-punched olives to represent the rich Mediterranean healthy diet.
