Levana Oma Review And Giveaway

I still remember so well how much of a worrywart I was when I had my first baby. I’d wake up every thirty minutes and almost never left my sleeping infant daughter’s side just to check if she was still breathing. Of course, I strictly followed all of WHO’s infant sleep guidelines against SIDS, such as lying her on her back, clearing her cot of everything except herself, and preventing her from any hazardous exposure. I thanked the heavens as she grew up alright, until I had my second baby just two years ago and I became the same loving worrier again. Hands up if you’re like me! I bet you are!

How could anyone blame us moms if we can’t help but worry? Although the momentary pauses in breathing of babies are normal because their breathing control centers are yet to fully mature, the fact remains that there is still no exact identified cause for SIDS. We still can’t tell if infant respiration and SIDS are linked or not, and it doesn’t really matter if the baby is born premature or full-term. They’re delicate little angels all the same. So if you’re wondering what all of us moms need to take all these stressful thoughts at bay, aside from emergency numbers and CPR skills, it has to be the Oma baby monitor by Levana.

Oma works like a mother’s loving hand, where from time to time mommy would lightly touch baby’s stomach to feel his breathing. But unlike mom, Oma tirelessly does this all throughout baby’s sleeping time!

It’s very small, compact and lightweight, which looks and works like a diaper clip with a soft sensor tip that touches baby’s tummy for abdominal movement monitoring. It only has two buttons where you can turn on, turn off, and adjust your alert settings. Its default settings enable the Oma to alarm after 15 seconds of non-movement, and detect any irregular and weak movements. You may opt to adjust the alert time, and turn off the detection of irregular movements if you like. It’s battery-operated, where it exclusively uses a Levana ½ AA battery to ensure that the battery you would use is safe and non-toxic for baby.

What sets Oma apart from other traditional baby monitors? I have two things that I can’t trade them off for: safety and accuracy. Unlike mobile devices, there is no radio frequency in the sound that Oma’s produces, as it rather uses a safe, audible alarm plus LED light. If you’re away from baby, you can transmit the sound through an audio/video monitor. Plain and simple! It’s wireless too, so there’s no risk of strangulation. And unlike under-the-mattress monitors, Oma is unlikely to produce unnecessary false alarms, as it alerts first-hand from baby’s abdominal movement. How’s that for genuine peace of mind?

The Levana Oma is a great gift for an expecting mom, and I bet she will never forget you for that! With an incredible line of wireless baby safety and security monitors, Levana truly lives by their statement “Do More, Knowing Your Child is Safe”. And if doing more means sleeping an extra hour or two without worries, that’s definitely a lot! And because Oma is portable, mommy not only becomes able to be productive and do a lot more, but can also go anywhere even if she needs to be away from baby.

Oma is finally going to be available on May 19 in all WalMart Canada outlets. This is definitely a must-have for any baby registry!

  1. Getting out with my friends more. Most of us are busy with work or kids, so hard to get our schedules together.
