How to Have a Fantastic Baby Shower… Remotely!

It’s true that lately we have become more used to doing things in a remote way. Covid changed the way we functioned as a nation, but it allowed us to get creative and now we are able to celebrate better with loved ones who can’t be in the room with us.

Whether you’re sick and need to do it virtually, or you are choosing to do it this way as your family don’t live local to you, a virtual baby shower is a fantastic way to mark the occasion of your new baby while including everyone, and the best thing is that there is no party mess to clean up afterward!

This article will look at some of the ways you can have the best baby shower virtually, including fun games and more.

Themes

Choosing a theme in advance is a great way to get your online guests feeling involved and like they are participating in the same event. It may be wearing a certain color, dressing up in a certain themed costume, or something baby themed like sucking a pacifier! It’s a great ice breaker as it creates a point for discussion at the very start of your shower, before all the activities begin! Remember to take some screen shots of your loved ones looking silly in their costumes! These will be memories to treasure forever!

Sending Baskets

If you have a little more budget, you can send a little basket in advance containing all the things your guest will need for your party (photo props, quiz sheets, etc.) plus a couple of treats like cupcakes or a soda!

Games

This is where you can really get creative, as there are loads of virtual baby shower games you can play with your friends by simply adding a baby themed twist to it! Some of them are included below.

Baby Themed Quiz

Using popular movies and music, create a quiz that has questions based around the word ‘baby’. For example, ‘In the movie Dirty Dancing, what did Baby famously carry?’. Or ‘Complete the song lyric ‘Baby, now that I’ve found you.’.

Baby Bingo

Create cute baby bingo cards but instead of numbers, use images of baby related items such as bottles, teddy bears, pacifiers and diapers. Then cut one of the cards up, and throw the images into a box, pull them out one at a time and have people tick them off their sheet, the first to collect all the pictures wins! They will need to be sent the cards in advance.

Don’t Say Baby

Throughout the event, anyone caught saying the word ‘baby’ is disqualified and the last person to not get caught out saying it is the winner!

Baby Guesses

This is the game that lasts longer than the event! Have everyone vote on baby predictions such as date, time, gender, and weight. When the baby is born the person who is the closest to each wins a little prize!

Printables

There are loads of printable games such as word scrambles, etc. you can send to your guests in advance via email. These add a great element of fun and are simple and cheap to create. Check out this resource for loads of printable games.

Baby Photos

Have all attendees send a baby photo of themselves in advance, print them out and show them one by one at your shower, see if anyone can guess which baby photo is of which guest. This is so much fun!

Stories

Acting out a baby book giving each person a character is a real giggle, and it’s great practice for when baby arrives!

Anecdotes

Invite people to tell a story about their own children. Some of the funniest ones are mispronounced words, or stories when their kids totally embarrassed them in public – as we well know, children have zero filter!

Other Activities

Not a game, but a virtual bake along is a great activity usually used in team building, but can be easily adapted for a baby shower. Send everyone an ingredients list in advance and have everyone create beautiful baby themed cakes, which you can all sit and eat together at the end of your shower!

For a while, Covid stopped us spending time with friends and family the way we normally would; however, it has opened the world up in a whole new way to how we can celebrate, and in some ways made us more creative with including our friends and family who live further afield.

Hosting a virtual baby shower is a fantastic way of getting together with friends and family, without the stress of organizing a full-blown party or having a big mess to clear up at the end. Win-win!
