Froggy Boogie is a memory game, it comes with 6 wooden baby frogs, 9 wooden adult frogs with their 18 huge popping eyes that are just so adorable. There is also this huge wooden water lily and 11 smaller ones. Just like most games, this comes with 2 wooden dice.
Do you know there is meaning behind the game? The baby frogs want to play but their parents won’t allow them to because it’s naptime already. While the large frogs are asleep, they have to hop around the pond without getting caught. So the players will need to remember which adult frog popping eyes will freeze the baby frogs in the race. Once my daughter knows about the idea about the game, it’s easier for me to explain how to play it.
First we have to set up the game. We place two popping eyes in each adult frog: one blank and one marked with a baby frog on the bottom. This is an easy task for my 4 years old daughter. Then I mix the adult frogs and place them in the middle of the table. With the instruction, my daughter knows the next step is to arrange the small water lilies around the frogs in a circle. We are almost set to go. Each player chooses one baby frog and places them on the big water lily. Take turns, we roll the dice and match the adult frog with the colors shown on the dice. So if the dice land on orange and blue, lift up an eye from the orange and blue adult frog. If the lifted eye shows a baby frog underneath, the baby frog will not move forward but stay on the water lily. The next player takes a turn. If the lifted eye is blank, the frog didn’t see that baby frog, and the baby frog advances to the next water lily. Who first go back to the big water lily, who wins!
My daughter and I love this game aside from being fun, the pieces are so colorful and very appealing. I just love it, it’s perfect for preschoolers. On rainy days, when we can’t go to the park, my daughter gets this out from her toy cupboard and we play for a few rounds. I love the fact that it stimulates a child’s mind and it will help them learn about making strategies and having a very sharp memory.
Another thing that I love about this is that it is made from wood, which means that it is eco-friendly and it comes in great quality. Kids will definitely have fun playing this game, they’ll be so busy playing they think they’re just having pure fun but in reality, they are working on their color recognition and memory skills. This is the kind of toy that I would love my child to play instead of video games. I am very grateful that we have this toy, even me as an adult, enjoys playing it.
