Healthy Treats to Replace Halloween Sweets {#Giveaway}

Ah, Halloween. It’s getting more and more challenging for me every year. I used to place so much thought on my kids’ costumes, our spooky decorations, and treats to hand out to trick-or-treating children in our neighborhood. But as my own kids grow older, I realized that I need to watch out for those Halloween cavities. And now that my daughter’s seven, and my son past the 2-year old mark, they’re inevitably getting fond not only of dressing up for the occasion, but also of putting their baskets of collected sweet treats into their mouths. Oh, how to deal?

I’m not pressing the panic button though. I know that everything’s okay in moderation. I’d rather let my kids gorge on Halloween candies than deprive them from it and have them crave all year round. Of course, I’d follow up with thorough tooth-brushing. My daughter is big enough to understand my concerns about sweet empty calories, and my little boy can somehow follow simple instructions and reminders, so Halloween is an opportunity for them to practice self-control over candy temptation. Yes, I’d rather look at it as an opportunity rather than a dreadful situation.

Squoosh By Baby Gourmet

And being the Natural Mama that I am, of course I’m always ready with healthy substitutes for anything! I’m not a totally killjoy mom to even sabotage my kids’ sweet Halloween munching, but I just thought Squoosh by Baby Gourmet is perfect for the occasion. Just you look:

  • BeetBerry Sqoosh is a blend of apple, banana and blueberry to complement that earthy beet flavour. The bloody colour of beet in this puree would make yummy vampire blood! Or if your daughter’s going to wear pink on Halloween, this cute 90g pouch will match her outfit!
  • SquabbleBerry Squoosh has the same blend of apple, banana and blueberry, with butternut squash! Hey, squash is a Halloween symbol! Okay, pumpkin, but it’s pretty close.
  • OrangoBango Squoosh is a nutritious combination of orange, banana, apple and mango! The orange packaging of the BPA-free container is the colour of Halloween, so welcome OrangoBango to the party!
  • SpinApple Squoosh, my favourite! It has spinach, apple, cherry, Greek yogurt, and quinoa! The green colour makes a perfectly spooky green slime! Smear some of it on your teeth and look believably spookier!

Why wouldn’t Squoosh pass for a healthy Halloween treat? It’s 100% organic, has no added sugar and salt, and offers a full serving of fruits and vegetables. It’s a super handy pack for the most on-the-go trick-or-treaters because its convenient packaging requires no spoon. It’s ready to eat (chilled or not, whichever your kids prefer), fun to squeeze, and makes no messy hands. Hah! Candies are no match with these.

So the secret to eating healthier treats this Halloween is to be creative! I can give my kids all the healthiest options in the world with just my imagination enthralling them. Yes, they can still have some of those unhealthy candies for this occasion, but not to the point of putting them at risk of diabetes and obesity. And this advice should be no secret: Instill in your kids’ mindset the importance of healthy, wholesome, and nutritious living, all year round! This way, I can trust my kids on their eating behaviour, even on a Halloween!
