The most realistic Disney Princess for me so far has been Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. Her dream is not really to become a princess, and she didn’t start off as a princess, but she has a realistic ambition of opening up her own restaurant business in New Orleans. And so she worked hard for it, saved every penny, and worked extra harder, so much so that she became desperate when she lost one of her two jobs. Until she succumbed to kissing a frog in the hope that it would magically turn into a prince and help her fulfill her ambition. But instead, it was she who turned into a frog!

What I admire most about Tiana is her strong grip towards her ambition. Even though she turned into a frog, her dream of having a restaurant as a promise to her late father kept her motivated to become human again. She was a strong-willed creature (person and frog), and even though she kind of relied on other people’s promises to give her the money she needs for her dream business, in the end she realized that it was her love for the frog prince that weighed more in her heart. Until eventually, Tiana and Naveed’s love for each other made them into human beings again and they established their dream restaurant together.

And by the way, I love everything about The Princess and the Frog movie because its 2D picture is reminiscent of the typical cartoons when I was still a little girl! And not to mention, the twist in the story (Tiana turning into a frog instead of turning the male frog back into a prince) was a refreshing plot. It’s like putting a traditional cartoon format and a very modern 3D-quality story together. Interesting, right? Do you call that a juxtaposition? Somebody let me know, please!

I find Princess Tiana looking so much like a beauty queen in her fabulous look. You know, a green, glittery ombre strapless gown with long gloves, and high-heeled shoes? Plus a height-boosting hair updo and a removable tiara! And of course, her mesmerizing eyes and her elegant smile. I wish she had earrings and a sceptre though, but what the heck, she’s a princess! But my daughter thinks Tiana looks like a beauty pageant candidate too as she tried to waltz gracefully and wave an arm with so much poise. We just both can’t stop looking at her beautiful, queenly face.

And speaking of a beauty queen wave, this little Tiana doll does it! And she comes with a fabulous change outfit of a blue ball gown. My daughter enjoys mixing and matching her green and blue bodices, skirts, peplums and other snap-ins. And this Little Kingdom Tiana can also sit and stand. I just wish she had a little restaurant set though.

Tiana is the third Disney Princess my daughter and I have deeply come across and we both admire her humor, confidence and strong spirit. She’s also fairly new to the Disney Princess lineup (2009), meaning I never encountered her in my childhood years (lol). Thanks to Tiana for arriving a little late because it gave me and my daughter the opportunity to get to know her for the first time! And we love her.

  36. I try to win toys for My 14yr old daughter to donate at christmas drives. I always let her purchase a toy to donate since she was one yr.old. It is tradition. We would love to do more.

  48. Tiana is my personal favourite as an adult Disney fan. My niece does not, I believe, have any Tiana or brown dolls at all. I think it would be a great gift and a way to see if she wants to watch Princess and the Frog with her Aunty.
