2012 Back To School Guide – Hasbro Back-To-School Toys

hasbro

I just recently received fantastic educational toys for my daughter that our whole family can enjoy. They’re absolutely fun to play and are perfect for school children for the upcoming back-to-school season. We got Hasbro’s Scrabble Boggle game, Scrabble Alphabet Scoop, Play-Doh Chalkboard Set and Sesame Street Playskool Steps to School Ready for School Elmo.

scrabble boggle

Scrabble Boggle from Hasbro combines both Scrabble and Boggle in a single toy. Now, how amazing is that? Boggle, as I have known to play with when I younger, is a toy where letter cubes are shaken, put in place and players hunt for words. This is what Scrabble Boggle’s concept is. Player/s will loosen up its handheld back so as to let the grid slide back and allow the letter cubes to jumble. Then, upon putting the cubes back into slots, which can take a little time, snap the grid back into place. A small light will turn on indicating that the 3-minute timer has started.

You have the choice if it’s going to be solo, one-on-one or a tournament for the whole family. Its rules are similar to the traditional Boggle. Good thing about it is that you skip the part where you open up a Boggle’s lid then cubes fall off or get lost sometimes. Also, the concept it got from Scrabble is on the bonus points used. There’ll be colored letter cubes that will give bonus points when used in a word. It’s just an amazing educational game best for family bonding or time with friends!

scrabble alphabet scoop

For families with much younger kids, probably toddlers, Scrabble Alphabet Scoop, Sesame Street Ready for School Elmo and Play-Doh Chalkboard Set might just be the perfect toy for family play time. The Scrabble Alphabet Scoop is just like playing pretend-cooking but, it uses letters as the ‘soup’ and players scoop letters from the pot. There are cards with words for each player and their letters must be completed by the letter tiles you scoop. Once done, quickly put the lid back and shout, “Yummy!” My family played that one time and we had so much fun, we played several rounds. It’s also great for children who are still learning to recognize letters. This is a great way to get them into letter-recognition in a fun way.

ready to school elmo

And then we have Sesame Street Playskool Steps to School Ready for School Elmo which I strongly believe is excellent for encouraging first-time school-goers like two-year-olds to go to school. Its features are very appropriate for a toddler who is still absorbing ideas of what schooling is or how to get ready for school.

Here, Elmo lets children zip, strap, and even go along songs about alphabet, counting and getting ready for school. These could teach kids fine motor skills and cognitive skills like identifying colors and shapes. As my daughter explored, Elmo describes what she’s doing and says encouragements. It makes her feel that Elmo really wants to learn together with her.

Alongside with getting ready for school is encouraging your child to master numbers, letters and shapes through the Play-doh Chalkboard Set. The set has around 20 pieces of cutting and shaping tools for four 3-ounce clay compounds it comes with. You can stuff the clays into the pieces and form shapes or numbers while you let your child master them. It is best for the development of a child’s fine motor skill, too, since there’s a lot of eye-and-hand coordination activity involved while they enjoy themselves.

You as a parent get the best benefits from having educational toys that let them have a great time, too. Practicing to expose your kids with toys like Hasbro’s Scrabble Boggle & Scrabble Alphabet Scoop, and Play-Doh Chalkboard Set is an excellent way to make them think that learning is fun and love learning. With that, you not only benefit from their present development as learners but in the future as well. I definitely recommend these toys to parents and young learners.
