What do celebrity chefs have in common? They used to closely watch their parents or grandparents cook when they were young! Kids are more likely willing to eat what we lovingly prepare for them if they are involved in the preparation process. Not only will their taste buds be open to a variety of flavors, they might even discover their interest in cooking and baking too, or simply just gain more confidence in doing chores and even a sense of “can-do” attitude early in life.

With that being said, I discovered a wonderful way to make my kids feel more at ease in the kitchen, in a way that they can make real food delights almost by themselves while still being playful: Yummy Nummies Mini Kitchen Magic! I got my kids started with the Pizza Party Maker, and Candy Bars Maker.

The Yummy Nummies Pizza Party Maker includes:

  • Packed ingredients: 1 dough packet, 1 sauce packet, 1 cheese packet
  • Tools: 1 kitchen magic tray, 1 spoon, 1 measuring scoop, 1 mini pizza peel
  • Illustrated instruction sheet

Our mini pizzas were a breeze to make, and they also make nice hors d’oeuvres for adults! The Pizza Party kitchen magic tray is meant to be cut into two portions: one with two sub-trays for preparing the dough and sauce mixes, and the other with six round sub-trays for microwaving the mini pizza crusts. It’s that easy. The dough just took 10 seconds to cook in the microwave, and another 5 seconds with the sauce on top! The cheese packet just had to be sprinkled on top without heating the pizza again. The mini pizza peel is such a cute addition to the set because it makes the tiny pizzas look traditionally made. And the taste? My kids love it! I love cheese so I really enjoyed it, not just because my daughter proudly prepared it! We’d love to add more toppings on our mini pizzas next time.

Our Yummy Nummies Candy Bars Maker has:

  • Ingredient packs: 1 dark cocoa packet, 1 white cocoa packet
  • Tools: 1 kitchen magic tray, 2 melting bags, 1 cutting tool, 6 mini chocolate wrappers
  • Illustrated instruction sheet

These chocolate bars are so delicious, especially because we made these ourselves in just a few easy steps! I just had to guide my daughter in melting the cocoa chips in melting bags submerged in warm water, and in cutting the melting bags for piping. The Candy Maker magic tray serves as the mold for the chocolates. The mold had six different designs that made our chocolates look fun and unique from each other. The hardest part was waiting for them to chill in the fridge, even if it was just 5 minutes! I also personally loved the wrappers for that nice finishing touch. My daughter learned to appreciate how packaged chocolates are made.

What really makes these no-bake Yummy Nummies super easy and kid-friendly is how it simply works in three words: “Mix, Make, and Enjoy!”

MIX: There’s no stress over measurements for little kids to worry about, because the provided scoops and kitchen magic trays take care of the math, particularly the amount of water needed to add. It’s just so hard to make mistakes!

MAKE: The illustrated instructions couldn’t make it any easier! The disposable cooking utensils and preparation trays are a convenience too, because there’s no more need for cleanup after preparations so nothing stands in the way of our busy little kids. The use of microwave oven, which still calls for adult supervision, is at most 15 seconds only.

ENJOY: The small, fun-looking foods are just so cute! They taste great for my daughter too. It’s really more delicious for kids if they’re the ones who proudly made them! They’d be proud to serve and share them with their friends. It’s safe too because the disposable tools are BPA-free, and all ingredients are safely made in the USA.

I can’t wait to let my kids try other Yummy Nummies! Other fun recipe packs include Bakery Treats (cookies, cupcakes, donuts, birthday cakes), Diner Delights (burger, spaghetti, pretzels, nuggets), Candy Shoppe (candy sushi, gummy goodies, fruity ribbons), and Playsets (soda shoppe, ice cream maker). All these yummies are just brilliant for DIY kiddie parties! Either the child can prepare these treats ahead, or the party guests can just make these themselves! Thanks to Yummy Nummies for that awesome idea for my daughter’s next birthday party!
