Whether it’s the quintessential British stereotype of a classy English gentleman sipping a cuppa of a morning or exotic tea fields in far flung Asia, tea is an enduring staple. 519 million pounds worth of tea is imported to the USA annually and approximately 2 billion Americans turn to tea as their drink of choice each and every morning.

I must confess that I am no exception. As a busy mother of two, I savour the moments when I get to sit for a still moment and savour a flavoursome cup of tea. The concept behind Teamotions was intriguing to me. Tea is renowned for its lulling, calming properties. Whether the news is celebratory or terrible, the words ‘I’ll just go and put the kettle on’ are always soothing hence why tea is such a congratulated staple in households all over the world.

The power of tea is not lost on me. Its comforting properties are utterly indescribable. Tea reminds me of a hot bowl of soup in winter; it warms the body as well as the soul. It’s the consumable equivalent of sinking into a warm bath after a bad day. Teamotions understand the concept of tea to sooth the soul very well. Their range of teas designed for emotional well-being are perfect for those of us who need a quick pick me up and let’s be honest – who doesn’t?

Available in 6 tantalising options, these teas are designed to work in tandem with our busy lifestyles to help us achieve positivity and balance. Although they can be used by anyone and everyone, they are specifically effective for those attempting to deal with grief, anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia and a plethora of other trying emotions. You see modern life can be stressful. Whether it’s the 9-5 grind, the joys of motherhood, life upheavals or illness, tea offers us a sanctuary in the midst of a mad day that helps us find ourselves again.

Emptying each sachet into a cup was exciting for me. The company behind this tempting range of teas, Teamotions have concocted heavenly brews which contain adaptogens, entirely authentic and non-toxic ingredients that aid the body, mind and soul accordingly. The Achieve Clarity tea is designed for murky, muddy moments when the mind is clouded by doubt, fatigue, emotion or confusion. As a tea connoisseur, this vanilla enthused tea was utterly divine, invigorating and did seem to imbue me with a Zen-like focus that is often lost on a busy and bustling mother of two! I’d also recommend this tea for students cramming in revision time or working on projects because the rich, robust flavors really wake you up and help hone your focus and attention appropriately. I noticed that this tea made me feel alert and was ideal for periods of the day when I experienced a natural lull, such as early afternoon, post lunch.

Discover Joy is the ideal tea for those in the midst of unfortunate circumstances; a breakup, divorce, failing a test, bereavement or those struggling with anxiety and depression. What does joy in a cup taste like, you might ask? Enthused with vanilla and lemon, this tea tastes like sunshine. Each sip tasted like consuming summer itself and summer is indeed the epitome of joy. The taste is subtle and yet bright and designed to restore a sense of happiness and lightness making it ideal for those carrying heavy emotional or mental burdens. The stress reducing, anti-depressant properties make an intriguingly authentic alternative to heavy medicines. I find it useful to down a cup whilst sitting outside and ruminating on all of the positives in my life; my children, my work, my home – counting your blessings with a cuppa is indeed a joyful experience.

The third tea in the chain, Seek Peace was one that I was most anticipating as peace is a rare occurrence in my day. Naturally as a mother, I am always preoccupied with my children, hoping that they are happy and healthy and generally running around a headless chicken to keep things ticking over! Peace can be a little elusive during my day. This tea contains milk thistle and dandelion root with added creamy coconut, which I have always found to be a highly comforting taste. Creamy, sweet and a little spicy, this tea really helped me unwind once the kids were put to bed.

Next came Have Hope. I’m a pretty hopeful person; I’m optimistic and always looking for the best so I was expecting this tea to bolster these naturally occurring qualities. This tea is ideal for times of stress and worry. It has a refreshing minty extract merged with a sweet white chocolate infusion that is to die for. This tea also contains one of my favourite all natural anti-anxiety remedies; St. John’s Wort which many have taken as a supplement for years to aid with emotional disturbances.

Enjoy Rest is perfect before bed and is intended to evoke a restful night’s sleep. I’d highly recommend this tea for those who struggle with insomnia, restless sleep or exhaustion. Apple, cinnamon and chamomile are all fused for a highly refreshing and yet calmingly fragrant flavour. I ensured that all appliances were turned off (no laptop, no iPhone, and no kids!) and just sat back and focused on enjoying each sip. Needless to say, I did indeed have a perfect nights rest.

Finally came Find Strength and at this point I was sad to say goodbye to my Teamotions experience. We all need a little strength to get us through the day and on some days that’s certainly truer than others. This tea was utterly rambunctious and one of my favourites. A green tea merged with passion fruit and jasmine, the taste was truly exotic and tropical. It enlivens you and makes you feel that anything is possible which is what the tea intends to do. It’s great for times when you need a confidence boost. I’d recommend having a cuppa before an interview or a scary confrontation. This is the kind of tea that makes you want to ask for a pay rise!

Each tea is priced at $16 each but in my opinion they are utterly worth it. They may be slightly more costly than typical teas but then typical teas don’t rejuvenate the soul quite the way these do. I really adored the charming packaging and the fact that whatever mood I was in, there was a tea to turn to. I’ll definitely be making Teamotions teas a staple in my kitchen. Tea lovers should definitely give Teamotions a try; they are tasty tonics to turn to day in day out.
