I need to tell you all about the Minnetonka Moccasins. These smart little loafers are invaluable to anyone who spends a lot of time on their feet throughout the day. Whether you’re at work all day or running around with the kiddies, comfortable shoes are crucial to your overall well-being. On a personal note, they are equally crucial to my family’s well-being, because I’m very cranky when I have a callus.
One of the great things about this brand is that they make kids shoes, too! I mean, if you’re not being twinsies with your daughter every once in a while, then WYD? You’re missing out on some majorly cute girly bonding moments. And 10 years from now, if you try to buy her shoes that match yours, you’ll be on the receiving end of the century’s biggest eye-roll, so enjoy it while you can. I’ve got the Minnetonka Moccasins in classic black, and my daughter has the hot pink Little Kitty version.
First of all, these shoes are super comfortable. They’re comfy enough to wear while you’re cleaning the house, shopping, working…they keep up with you all day. And, if you’ve ever had on shoes that end up pressing against the side of your big toe by lunchtime, you know what a literal pain ill-fitting, poorly reinforced footwear can be. The Moccasins have soles that are clad in flexible rubber with thick cushioning, so they adjust to your every move. Plus, the fit is customizable, thanks to the leather lace ties. We all know that a size 9 can feel outrageously different from one pair of shoes to the next, and Minnetonka gets it. If your heels are narrow or your feet are a little wide, just redo the ties for a perfect fit. My daughter is also very comfortable in hers, so they’ve been road-tested and approved for active little feet.
But, all of these benefits are for naught if the shoe is going to fall apart on you within a couple of years. Fortunately, that’s not an issue with Minnetonka. If you’re not familiar with the brand, just know that they are a well-established company that has been around since 1946. They know shoes, and they make them well. If you scroll through some of the reviews on Minnetonka’s site, you’ll see that people have been wearing the same pair of Minnetonkas for 2 decades, and are finally needing a replacement pair. The price for the Moccasins is extremely reasonable, and you’ll be able to wear them a lot longer than shoes from less reputable brands.
Not only are these loafers comfy and durable, but they’re also classically stylish. The design is clean and simple, with a little fringe and stitching detail to give them a bit of flair. The moosehide leather looks as soft as it feels, and because these aren’t thrown together with glue, they have a nice, high-quality look to them. My daughter’s Hello Kitty version is just adorable. Whoever had the idea to make hot pink moccasins is a genius. And the fact that they go with just about every outfit she owns is a major bonus, because you know how it is when your child finds that one pair of shoes they want to wear every day.
The only drawback I can think of is that, because they are moccasins, they don’t offer much shock absorption or arch support. If that’s a problem for you, you might want to buy them slightly large and add a gel insert that fits your needs.
All in all, these versatile loafers are an excellent wardrobe staple that will see you through many years.
