Melissa & Doug Responsibility Chore Chart Review And Giveaway Ends 8/16 (US)

When faced with parenthood for the first time, many expectant moms and dads get overwhelmed by the amount of baby proofing that needs to be done.

As their child grows, new dangers and fears arise–what if my baby bumps his head as he learns to crawl and walk? What if my daughter gets lost in a crowd at the mall? What if our house (and all it’s intriguing outlets, doors, drawers) poses a risk to our curious child?

Thankfully, you can visit one website on the Internet and solve nearly all of these problems–plus you’ll be inspired by more innovative products to make rearing a child in today’s world a breeze.

My Precious Kid is a fabulous website and online store that sells ingenious and practical products that help keep your child safe from day-to-day hazards found in the household and out and about. Started by Kay Green in 2001, My Precious Kid Child Safety Store began with just one product–now they carry more than 100 items! Nearly every product they sell protects your child and gives you peace of mind–and you can be sure each item is excellent because Kay personally uses and tests everything she carries in her store.

One of the best products on their site is their original “Child ID Kit“.  In fact, the Child ID Kit is so impressive that it launched the entire My Precious Kid webstore.  This important kit includes 8 products that help identify your child and keep him or her safe in case of an emergency. In it you can find:

  • 1 – Child ID Card
  • 1 – Child Car Seat ID Card
  • 1 – Medical Release Card
  • 1 – Child Luggage Tag ID Card
  • 2 – Shoe ID Stickers
  • 1 – Disposable Child ID bracelet
  • 1 – Child DNA Fingerprint Kit

My Precious Kid is so keen on keeping your children safe that they even host a Child Safety Blog full of important posts on how to keep your child safe. As a mother to four and a grandma to three, Kay Green is an expert at knowing how to protect your child! I highly recommend bookmarking her blog for future reference when planning for a new baby or a trip outside the home.

Besides the safety products found on My Precious Kid, you can find a fabulous assortment of other mom-tested gear and baby items. Their website is easy to navigate and you’ll find twelve categories of products on their homepage. Choose from Baby Feeding, Baby Gear, Baby Products, Baby Sleep, Child ID Kits, Child Safety, Home Safety, Potty Training, Personalized Products, Safety Education, Wearable IDs, and Sale Items and you’ll be taken to a new page that features smart corresponding products. As mentioned before, every item on My Precious Kid has been tested, used, and approved so you can be sure of their value!

I was able to review one of their products in their “Education and Training” category: the Melissa & Doug Chore Chart. Like the other products found on My Precious Kid, the chore chart is useful and educational. (To be sure, I couldn’t find one “fluff” item that would be a waste of money–every item My Precious Kid sells is purposeful and will be well used!).

Our daughter is just getting to the age where she can comprehend chores and feel a sense of accomplishment when finishing each task we give her. The Melissa & Doug Chore Chart is perfect for getting her excited about doing these responsibilities each day. It is a very sturdy wooden product that features 134 magnets–some of which list tasks and responsibilities (brush your teeth, stop whining, share, etc.) and reward magnets (excellent, awesome, you did it!, etc.). The chore chart features a white board below it so that you can use a dry-erase marker to make notes. Additionally, there are two blank task bars that allow you to write in your own ideas for responsibilities.

The day it arrived we hung it on our playroom wall and picked 7 tasks that we thought our older daughter was capable of achieving.

She immediately wanted to accomplish everything we set before her–those reward magnets were incredibly motivating! She even tried to get her younger sister in on the action by sharing and saying please and thank you. Needless to say, the chore chart was an instant hit and will be used for a long time–the responsibilities are something any child from age 2-10 (or older!) can be proud of accomplishing.

We were thrilled with the easy and informative My Precious Kid website, impressed by their customer service, and pleased with the speed of the product’s shipment. If you are looking to baby-proof your home, protect your children when out and about, or start training them to be responsible children, look no further than My Precious Kid!

  1. I really love their Baby Cubes trays, and I like the sandwich and hot dog cutters too! Those are all awesome. But since my baby is 5 months, I’d have to go with those Baby Cubes trays.

  2. I like the Kidco BabySteps Baby Food Freezer Trays. I am making all of Little Bit’s food now and this would be very helpful in freezing when I make it in bulk.

  3. My favorite item for now is the Seat Belt Adjuster. My daughter uses the booster seat in the car and it constantly is a hassle having to try and adjust the shoulder strap for her!

  5. My children are past the baby stage so I don’t need many of the products, but I do love the iron-on name labels!!!! They would make my life easier for identifying items for school!

Love the charts, always great for the kids to have visual reminders — mine definitely prefer that over me telling them what to do!

  8. I would love to get the child safety DVD package. It’s so important to talk to children about safety. Especially about strangers.

My favorite item is the Safe Sippy 2 I have used the first version of the Safe Sippy and my son loves it. I like the new version because it has a cap and straw.
