In a day and age where more and more kids are being raised by the television, I have found something that can keep my 6 year old young and innocent for just a little while longer. We received a Maplelea Girls Doll and School Desk & Locker a couple of weeks ago, and I swear at that moment the heavens opened up and angels sang out loud as I rejoiced in the fact that my kid actually wanted to play with this uber cute doll and her fun school accessories.

Taryn – the doll- comes dressed for the outdoors, which got my daughter amped because she loves outdoor explorations. The cute little khaki shorts and boots made her just the right accessory to take along outside on her treasure hunt in the yard. What’s really neat is the very cute journal that Taryn comes with, all hand written with questions and prompts and some blank pages where my daughter can doodle. It’s become a weekend routine here, morning breakfast, then Taryn Time, they head outside and play and discover and collect things for hours on end and then she neatly writes down all of their nature hunt findings into the journal. There’s something magical about a kid playing outside, it just fits and makes this mama heart super proud.

To shake things up a little, we were introduced Taryn’s school desk & Locker which are additional accessories that can be bought for the doll. This is where the homework and school tasks really become easier for my daughter to understand, when she sees how Taryn has to sit down to do her school work, and store her personal things in her locker for safe keeping. My daughter really enjoyed bedazzling the locker with the magnetic stickers that come with the keepsake box to decorate the locker. The fact that it has a working heart shaped lock adds even more excitement. Taryn has to sit down, the smoothly swivel out from her school desk (only once she has done all her “schooling”) and then move over to the locker where she can then swap books, get a jacket or grab a snack that her “mommy” made for her before school.

We really enjoy the ranges from the Maplelea range, they have very creative and unique toys available and I would truly recommend this as a gifting item for the festivities coming up. My daughter already suggested we get another Taryn for her cousin so that the “four of them” could play happily together.

It’s not often that we find toys that nurture creativity and independence as well as emotional development and social skills all at once. I am really stoked with this product and couldn’t believe that we could get so much satisfaction from a doll. Yes I also get satisfaction from it, there’s nothing that makes this mama heart beat quite as proudly as when I see my children flourish.
