2015 holiday gift guide

Who among you have girls wishing for a dollhouse this Christmas? I bet they’re specifying too what rooms they want their dream dollhouse to have. Girls are keen on details, and it’s a good thing because they know exactly what they want and it feeds their imagination and strengthens their individuality. If they’re that particular about it, why not make them build and design their own dream dollhouse? For sure, it’s going to thrill them more than any ready-made dollhouse would. And without them knowing, it will empower them as they unleash their creativity and build up their confidence, while also learning about basic architecture and geometry.

KNex Mighty Makers

The Mighty Makers Home Designer Building Set from K’NEX is the ultimate dream dollhouse any girl will ever have. It’s even better because girls can actually make two dollhouses with it, because this set includes little dolls Brianna and Sophia who are neighbors! It has a total of 433 parts and pieces, including accessories to decorate the house with like beds, tables, chairs, lamps, appliances, flower pots, graphic panels, house blueprint, and lots more. Who says construction toys are only fun for boys?!

KNEX Mighty Makers Building Set

The graphic instruction manual for the Home Designer shows illustrated step-by-step procedures in building two architectural designs: a ranch style house for Brianna, and a colonial style house for Sophia. My daughter very much enjoyed her challenging but fun construction project. How can she not, if the K’NEX parts are invitingly bright and colorful, and the instructions are super easy to follow? I love that the manual feels like a storybook too, with the enticing graphics of Brianna and Sophia building together, and the encouraging little storyline about their personal interests and their success in constructing their own homes.

But that’s not all there is to make with the Home Designer. You can build a brownstone style house too for both Brianna and Sophia to live in! And it’s not just limited to houses, the K’NEX parts can be used to create just about anything. The K’NEX website provides instructions for other designs with the Home Designer for building a brownstone house and a picture frame. While my daughter’s imagination provides limitless possibilities on what she can do with her interlocking K’NEX parts: basic shapes, jewelries, spiderwebs, bridges, walkways, a little office, a dance  studio, avant-garde structures, molecule bonds or DNA models, she’s free to do anything!

And to further enrich your girl’s knowledge and skills, the Home Designer Building Set also includes a graphic Mighty Makers card that teaches some basic STEM concepts about architecture and geometry. Who knows, would she choose to be an interior designer, an architect, or an engineer?

Recommended for girls aged 7 and up, the K’NEX Mighty Makers Home Designer Building Set is just perfect for my daughter. It’s the perfect holiday gift for creative and imaginative girls who love to play with dolls and dollhouses, and at the same time love to build and construct. This is just one of the wonderful building sets from the Mighty Makers line by K’nex, which is specially made for girls. This is a game changer for me because it inspires and empowers girls to dream big and actually work on it!

  6. my son has a ton of K’nex, and doesn’t care for them – he prefers the lego sets he has, but my DAUGHTER? she LOVES K’nex <3 I love that they are making it more appealing for girls, but not in a patronizing way (like how Lego did)
