Kick-starting My New Year with Kellogg’s Special K #2015Revolution #Giveaway

The New Year is a special time for me, as it is for many. Many of us celebrate our New Year’s Eve with fireworks, flutes of champagne and 1 or 2 resolutions which we hope to implement as the 1st January emerges. A recent survey conducted by Kellogg’s Special K divulged that a mere 23 per cent of Canadians have actually successfully achieved their resolutions. This uninspiring figure inspired Kellogg’s to start a #2015Revolution. A revolution is a big, bold, dynamic statement that instigates the call for immediate and enduring change. 50% of survey respondents revealed that they longed to achieve a personal revolution but had not yet attempted to do so. Well; 2015 is the year of the revolution, at least it is in my household!

Collaborating with Nia Vardalos, Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee and star of comedy favorite “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” and its forthcoming sequel, the team are excited to help Canada ring in the New Year with a promise to be positive. In order to do so, they’ve introduced a deliciously delectable range of new products including Kellogg’s Special K Protein bars in Double Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chocolate flavors (yes, my taste buds are tingling too!)
Their project had hit at just the right time for me. My passion for implementing positive change in the forthcoming year as well as my desire to indulge my sweet tooth in a nutritious and beneficial manner have all been taken into consideration by Kellogg’s. Typical resolutions include the desire to lose weight, make healthful dietary changes and spend more quality time with loved ones and yet 87% of Canadians do not actually believe that their resolutions will materialise. It is this passive sense of powerlessness that is counteracted by the Kellogg’s 2015 revolution challenge.

By throwing ourselves into a bold and exhilarating challenge that requires persistence and planning, our dreams have a higher chance of manifesting. The concept of the revolution is designed to be easily achievable. Fusing a positive perspective with perseverance and a plan, the finish line can be reached by progressing across small necessary steps and stages. The revolution has been touted as marrying the journey with the destination thus making it more likely for people to complete. Well all of this completely resonated with me particularly because as a mother, it’s easy to feel stuck and stagnant in my ways. My children are continuously transforming before my eyes; learning, growing, developing. Adults, by contrast, often feel stifled and stuck in the mud and cease to develop. Creating real change takes more of a self-driven push. Participants are urged to share their revolution via social media. Upon sharing their revolution, up until the 30th January will be entered into a competition that may deliver 1 of 3 $1000 prizes.

As food is the fuel that propels us upward and onward, the mouth watering new Kellogg’s range is ideal to inspire Canadian’s to reach for their dreams. Incorporating the tasty indulgences is effortless. I thought long and hard about my New Year revolution rather than resolution and decided that mine would be to spend more quality time with my children but also to enrich my personal time. I want to strike the balance between being a wonderful, present mother who is able to really give to my children and also a woman who is able to self-actualize and realize her potential. Striking this balance is not easy but I believe I can take the small steps towards achieving this reality. Fuelling the fire of my ambition with Special K is proving to be a scrumptious experience already. I start off the morning with a protein shake (chocolate is my favourite). Throughout the day I stock up on cereal enthused with chocolate red berries, sate the children with popcorn chips when we watch movies, cracker chips, pastry crisps and protein bars.   79. I have always loved Special K but haven’t yet tried some of these products, and would love to. I have lost just over 66 lbs since last May and am always looking for products that are tasty without too many calories so that I can maintain this loss. Thanks for the great review and giveaway.
