Keep Your Home Safe and Secure this Summer with Master Lock #Giveaway

Home safety and security is always at the top of my mind and has been since I started baby proofing for my daughter.  There is something about being a mother that makes you look at everything and try to figure out how it can be opened and gotten into; probably because a toddler is even more creative than a criminal mastermind.

I have found over the years that summer brings special safety and security concerns.  The pool is full and open, the patio is filled with toys and a constant temptation, and we have more stuff that we store outside and need to keep safe.  Because of this, I always find myself looking for new ways to lock up the gates, sheds, and secure the sliding glass door to the patio.

I decided to use the padlock on the gate to the pool of my mother-in-law’s where we visit every week.  It fit the latch just right and seemed to hold quite sturdy; the lock is strong and solid and feels quite secure.  While I am sure it would hold up against greater forces, it certainly did stop by son when he toddled over. 

 

 

 

The security bar held a lot more interest for me as I needed a solution for both my sliding patio door and for added security when we take our annual summer vacation.  When I placed it for my sliding glass door, it did an excellent job at holding it shut, even when we used force to try to open it.  My son attempted to play with it but was unable to move it.  Since it is adjustable, I was able to get the perfect fit for my particular door. 

For our vacation this year, I decide to take it along.  It can be retracted small enough to easily fit in a suitcase and is lightweight enough not to cause any problems with our luggage allowance. When we settle in for the night at our hotel, I will place it on the door.  It can be adjusted to fit under the handle snuggly and stay in place, even on the tile foyer.  While no one tried to enter our room during the night, it will make me feel more secure and I am confident it would be effective in such a situation.  It also can stop one little man from escaping.
