When I heard about wood wrist watch, I thought it was a joke or a toy fake clock, very funny right? Yes, I have seen wood wall clocks but never wrist watch and it has never occurred to me that there is one for sale, much more having an international market. When Jord wrist watch was introduced to me I cannot help but be amazed and dazed by how it looks. It is very light too compared to the regular metal watches.

At first glance, you will not even notice that it is made of wood. The workmanship is just awesome. The company designed and chose the color of wood to mimic the physical appearance of metal like gold, copper and bronze. In their website they have many more collection of watches for men and women, all made from different types of wood. According to their website information the watches are: 

  • Mainly made of wood combinations like bamboo, maple and sandalwood, and they are imported from other countries.
  • It is made of 100% natural wood and no chemicals applied so it is not toxic nor allergen causing reaction, although clasp is made of metal but very small portion of watch only so they do not promise a 100% protection for those who are allergic to metal.
  • They also have ready replaceable parts like batteries and bands. Batteries are for non-automatic watches, you can change it yourself but they still recommend that you will ask an expert to do the changing to protect your watch from unnecessary damage.
  • Since watches are made of woods, it easily captures dirt and other foreign materials; they offer suggestions on how to take care of it to prevent it from drying and cracking faster than expected.
  • Because it is made of wood, too much water exposure will make the wood stiff, so it was advice not to expose it to water. Dry right away when wet.

Right now, they have the new line called the Sully Series Black and Maple wood color. Described as “classic styled timepiece” and splash proof but it is not intended for complete submergence in water. Like other Jord watch collections, the Sully Series was made to precision and designed professionally. Since these watches are made of natural wood materials, I can also say that the price you pay is worth it if it means better health and environmental preservation.
