hot dots jr. phonics fun

The Hot Dots Jr. Phonics Fun from Educational Insights is an interactive toy recommended for children aged 4 to 7 years. It targets phonics skills using a talking pen and 80 different interactive cards. The toy educates children about the alphabet, letter sounds and both long and short vowels using a fun and engaging format. The Hot Dots Jr. Phonics Fun is extremely child friendly and features a fully interactive talking pen which features Ace the talking teaching dog. Ace has lights and sound effects which help to guide the child through the phonics based activities and to provide instant feedback and rewards allowing your child to learn at their own pace. The Hot Dots Jr. Phonics Fun contains 80 double sided interactive activity cards which are fitted with pressure sensors which are activated by the Ace pen. The toy requires 2 AAA batteries which are not included with the purchase.

When I tried the Hot dots Jr. Phonics Fun with my daughter for the first time, she loved the toy and was immediately drawn to the cute Ace dog character. She found it fairly easy to get the hang of using the interactive cards and had fun working through the activities. She found the chunky design of the Ace pen easy to handle. I think my favorite feature of the Hot Dots Jr. Phonics Fun was that there was immediate feedback, so my daughter knew straight away whether or not she was answering correctly, allowing her to learn and progress effectively. The Ace pen lights up and buzzes and giggles when the correct answer is chosen, or flashes and redirects if the answer is incorrect. This allowed my daughter to play and learn independently. I was also impressed with the durability. I had concerns that the activity cards would be easily damaged, but in fact they are constructed from heavy duty card stock which stands up to wear and tear really well.

One of the main things that I like about the toy is that even although it is aimed at 4 to 7 year olds, younger children can also benefit from the toy. My Daughter is 3 years and 3 months and enjoyed the Hot Dots Jr. Phonics Fun. Most of the activities were a little beyond her capabilities , but she managed a few of the basic activities and I find it is a great way to introduce her to phonics activities from a younger age. When she is ready to move onto the more advanced activities she will be confident in handling the pen. There are additional pens available to buy separately if you have more than one child and also add on activity card packs available.

Overall, I think that the Hot Dots Jr. Phonics Fun represents great value for money. It is well constructed, fun and educational. It will provide your child with many hours of fun.
