Movie night is a cherished occasion for so many families including mine. Whether a rainy day tradition or weekly family ritual, it’s a chance for the kiddos to get to know new story lines, meet new characters, and maybe find a new favorite saying or two. No one has made movie night more enjoyable (since like, the beginning of time) than Mr. Walt Disney. The company he left in his wake has touched every corner of the globe and brought laughs and tears, and everything in between to viewers. I’m a victim of all of this that’s for sure. I admit it freely to you now, although I try to hide the love story tears from my husband and kids when we are snuggled up on the couch!
Disney has made my adulthood as fun, if not more so, than childhood. I still get excited when I hear a new movie is coming out, or a classic is being remade, and I can share it with my kids. The most recent tale (as old as time) is making me salivate with anticipation of the opening day in theatres! Beauty and the Beast will be the highlight of my year with our modern day femme heroine, Emma Watson as bookworm Belle. Beauty and brains, dancing dishware, and a man who finally learns to listen to the woman’s advice! Inside this mom, there’s a giddy little girl who sometimes ONLY read a book to look like Belle, and genuinely thought that would help her get noticed.
It will be a memory to treasure that will be amazing to share with my daughters, and it’s another excuse for me not to deny the new toy butterflies! Toys R Us is doing some planning to help with the adventure, and we will surely be their guest (be their guest, go and play with all the rest!) during their in-store movie inspired play date!
You are invited!
Pencil in March 25th for this, because from 11AM to 1PM the kids can win prizes, pinch out their own enchanted rose from PlayDoh, and check out all of the new, and truly lovely, toys!
Hasbro has done such a ‘Beauty’-ful job with the iconic golden yellow dress and Belle’s soft features for the Enchanted Ball gown Doll. So elegantly detailed, I swear I hear Mrs. Potts singing as soon as I look at this! This strong woman can come dancing home all by herself or with the beast in his most dapper blue attire!
And who can host a party with more pizazz than Belle’s enchanted housemates? Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and the others are surely the most perfect crew of companions for any castle captive-turned-guest! Lumiere’s love interest feather duster, Plumette, and little Chip are also included in this castle friend collection.
It’s truly priceless to hear new story lines during playtime. Seeing the movie, and participating in events is more or less pregaming for home play at our house. These dolls and accessories are tools for the imagination, and the kids can spend hours adding new dimensions to the story they’ve been told, creating a magical realm in the playroom. I can only dream of what they might think to stage with The enchanted rose between ballroom Belle, and her well-dressed Beast.
I can’t think of a better way to chase off the winter blues than to get the kids out of the house March 25th and head over to Toys R Us to play. So much to see, time to be around other kids and families, and I can’t wait to celebrate the upcoming release of one of the most beautiful Disney movies of all time!
