When choosing toys for my children, I like to make purchases that will teach them valuable lessons while providing them with hours of fun. Learning Resources has come up with another bright idea in combining learning with play.
It is called Gears! Gears! Gears! Sweet Shop Building Set. My two little ones have this set and enjoy its bright colors and the movement of the gears. The set is suggested for children four years and older; and my third grade little girl loves it just as much as my little man going into JK. Motion and color together will always get children’s minds moving, giving them creative ideas and exercising their thought processes, no matter how old they are. I love that this set is so easy to assemble, and my two can start the assembly themselves without any instructions.
Although this toy contains treats and shapes that would appeal to little girls, the building and construction of the gears catch the attention of both genders. My daughter enjoys putting the gears together as much as her brother does! My two can play with this together and never run out of creative ideas that will set the gears in motion.
Gears! Gears! Gears! Sweet Shop Building Set has 82 pieces, all vibrantly colored to attract and keep the children’s attention. The many pieces come in “sweet” shapes like lollipops, cupcakes (complete with frosting and a cherry on top!), ice cream cones, and more. The pieces can be mixed and matched with each other, and they all fit perfectly together as gears, which makes it possible for them to spin when my son or daughter turn the handle. In addition, the handle can be attached to any gear my kids choose and, with a twist of their hand, the handle will begin to turn every gear so that they can watch all the sweet shop treats spinning around and around.
Included in the set are stickers of different designs and colors that the children can attach to the sweet shop pieces and the gears. When the handle is turned and the gears begin to move, the designs on the stickers create an exciting, twirling optical illusion of shapes and colors. My children watch with wonder as the gears turn the treats, causing them to change over and over again. I can see their eyes studying each turn of every gear as they learn something new.
Gears! Gears! Gears! Sweet Shop Building Set is a wonderful game for family time. I love to play it with my children and see all the interesting shapes they think of on their own as they snap the gears together. There is absolutely no limit to what they can do with their imaginations and the 82 pieces that make up this toy. I rarely see them create the same combination twice! Not only are they both learning to expand their imaginations through building, they are also watching and discovering how the gears work as they watch them catch on every groove as they spin.
This is a toy I am happy to say has met my every hope and expectation for both my children. Learning is fun!
