Cheerios Goes Gluten-Free

With so many brand name foods coming up with gluten free options these days, it was only a matter of time before General Mills Canada finally came out with their own gluten free cereal. Cheerios has long been a favorite of people of all ages in Canada, as well as every other corner of the world. Well, it’s happened. General Mills Canada is now offering gluten free Cheerios. They have come out with five Cheerios flavors that will excite gluten free customers all over the country. They have removed all stray wheat, rye, and barley from their Cheerios in order to make the oats, which are a gluten free product naturally, completely free of all gluten. Now gluten-sensitive customers will be able to enjoy a variety of different types of these favorites. Gluten free Cheerios are now available in Original, Apple Cinnamon, Honey Nut, Chocolate, and Multi-Grain.

Gluten is a protein usually found in rye, wheat, and barley. Because it is used as ingredients in foods like bread, bagels, pizza, cereals, and crackers, and much more, many people who have a sensitivity to gluten have found that they are no longer able to eat these foods. There are many other foods containing gluten as well. Until recent years, people who had this sensitivity were unaware of what gluten was. Now many people have been diagnosed and understand where the problem stems from. In the beginning, people had to stop eating many of their favorite foods no alternate choices were offered. However, since the diagnosis came to light, many food manufacturers have joined in to produce foods that are safe for people with a gluten sensitivity to eat.

Multi Grain Cheerios Gluten Free

I like to give my children healthy choices at mealtime, and Cheerios really fits the bill. I received a box of Honey Nut Cheerios, as well as a box of Multi-Grain Cheerios for review. Both made with whole grains, they are packed with all the good things I want my two to begin their busy day with. I know that at breakfast time they will eagerly sit down to eat because they both love Cheerios. And I love the sense of security I know I’ll have when I send them off to school after having a Cheerios breakfast.

Cheerios for breakfast isn’t where the good taste and nutrition stops. There are delicious, time-honored recipes we can make at home with Cheerios as well. There are recipes for parfaits, crunchy frozen bananas, and no bake snack bars that I know my kids would love, and Cheerios makes a great snack all by itself. I can put some in a bowl and let my two snack away after school, knowing that they are eating nutritiously. There are any number of recipes available online that include the many different varieties of Cheerios.
