This year’s Earth Day (April 22) is going to be on Friday, and it’s the best day of the week to celebrate this festivity because everybody loves Friday! So the spread of awareness about saving our planet effectively reaches more people in the mood on that day, all around the world.
But as a Natural Mama, I personally believe that everyday should of course be Earth Day! We should never stop thinking of ways to live green and eco-friendly, to ultimately save our planet and reverse the effects of climate change. This is such a tough mission, but for the sake of my children’s future I’m hopeful that we’ll get there before it’s way too late.
Like I’ve always mentioned in several of my previous posts, it’s a consistent effort in our family to safely reuse, recycle, and as much as possible get rid of unnecessary wastes and disposables. And this time, we’re getting rid of disposable sandwich bags forever, with Stasher!
We have sandwich-sized Stashers in citrus which is a lovely bright orange, and in Monsters design which is a wacky drawing of happy monsters in action. They’re just perfect for my kids’ snacks for school, and this time we’re using it for our springtime walks in the park, and we just can’t wait to use them in our family picnics on summer!
The Stasher is made from 100% platinum food-grade silicone, which unlike plastic bags, does not contain harmful chemicals like petroleum, PVC, and latex. So it’s safe to make contact with food, for storage in the freezer, and for heating in the microwave. Plus, you can write on it with a dry-erase marker so you can label it or put a date, or simply leave a sweet note.
The Stasher is very easy to use. To clean, it just needs to be washed with warm soapy water, and it’s safe to leave open in the top rack of the dishwasher. To store food, it just needs to be pinch-pressed so it seals the sandwich airtight. To heat in the microwave, it is best to leave it open, to make it easier to handle and to avoid burns. And by the way, you can use the Stasher for storing any food or non-food item that fits in it!
We’ve used our Stashers quite a number of times already, and I must say that it’s so durable and really made to last. Although we rarely heat our sandwiches in the microwave, we still love our Stashers because cleaning them easily and then using them again and again is much better than using and then throwing away hundreds of disposable storage bags! It saves us money, and it greatly benefits the earth.
The Stasher designs are cool too, and I wouldn’t be embarrassed to take it out of my bag because it’s stylish and reusable. Anyone who sees it would be surely impressed, and more importantly inspired to do the same earth-saving switch if they haven’t already.
