Vincent Shoes: a big step for small feet

December 16, 2010 by

As any parent to a toddler can attest, kids play hard and never stop! I’ve struggled to find quality shoes for my two-year old daughter that can keep up with her constant activity and still look great after weeks of running around in them.

Then the Vincent shoe company contacted me and I found exactly what I’d been looking for–great looking, quality shoes that are fun and fashionable while still 100% functional.

Vincent shoes got their start in 1998 when Swedish designer Thomas Elbaum tried to buy stylish, high quality shoes for his nephew, Vincent. When he could not find any shoes that met his demands, he partnered with fellow Swedish designer Patrick Österman to create the best looking, highest quality shoes for kids. These two designers come out with new lines twice a year, deriving a lot of their inspiration from international fashion runways.

Just perusing their Fall collection left me wishing that these great shoes came in my size! I loved that their collections have a range of styles from fancy to casual–being able to have a choice of quality shoes for any occasion was wonderful. If you have a particular style, color, or size in mind, Vincent has a fabulous shoe finder to help you narrow your choices. To further help you in your selection, you can print off a very handy shoe fitter guide and determine exactly what size your ever-growing child wears.

I entered my daughter’s size and the color I wanted and quickly found the shoe for us! I chose the adorable Maj style (which is currently 50% off!) to review and my daughter and I were both so excited when they arrived. It would be an understatement to say that these shoes quickly became her favorite shoe in her toddler-sized collection.

We tested them out for a few days and trust me, they were well tested as they were the only shoes my daughter wanted to wear! She wore them all over our neighborhood–from the playground to walks and from school to church.

We found that Vincent toddler shoes are very well constructed and super cute at the same time. The tread is thick and sturdy without being too clunky. The buckles are easy enough for my daughter to strap on herself but their velcro is strong enough to stay secure throughout the day. The shoe is also constructed to give her a lot of support while she plays. I loved that the Maj shoes are also very versatile and can be worn with practically any outfit–whether she’s wearing play clothes or dress clothes they look great on her feet!

I cannot recommend these shoes highly enough. I know that when my daughter outgrows these shoes they’ll still look great when my second daughter fits into them next year. These high-quality shoes can be found online or in a store near you.

ThinkBaby Feeding Set Review And $25 from Atlantis Natural Giveaway

Atlantis Natural

As a concerned parent, you’ve probably heard all about the problems with BPA and other chemicals in bottles and children’s products. The problem is, it’s not always easy to tell which products don’t use these chemicals and which do. The best way to be sure, in my book, is to stick with brands and stores that stay true to a green philosophy. One great online store that does this is Atlantis Natural.

Atlantis Natural is a company out of Miami, Florida that has been around since 2000. Atlantis Natural carries natural and organic products, and their whole business philosophy is based off those principles. They don’t send out paper catalogs and stick to a zero-waste standard at their corporate offices. All of their products are shipped in recyclable packaging, and instead of packing peanuts they use recycled paper.

One line Atlantis Natural carries is ThinkBaby. ThinkBaby commits to making safe, non-toxic products for all ages, from babies to adults. From baby bottles to PVC free yoga mats, ThinkBaby makes products that don’t have BPA, lead, PVC or other toxic chemicals.

TBFEED__10976_zoom

The ThinkBaby Feeding Set from Atlantis Natural is a great set for any parent of young children. The set comes with a mug, large and small bowl (with their own lids), a plate, a spoon and a fork. These dishes are made of stainless steel, and are bright orange and very cute. The ThinkBaby Feeding Set is even dishwasher safe!

I was very excited to use these dishes with my daughter, because I’m always worried about BPA, lead and other chemicals in my daughter’s dishes and toys. I knew that I could trust ThinkBaby and Atlantis Natural not to use anything toxic in their products. As promised, the ThinkBaby Feeding Set came in recyclable paper, and was packaged efficiently to save trees. The set looked very nice: the paint didn’t chip easily, and it held up great after a few runs through the dish washer.

My daughter enjoyed eating with these dishes and utensils. The fork and spoon were easy for her to handle with her little hands, and the bowls were deep enough to hold liquids, but not so deep that my daughter couldn’t get to the bottom of them. I loved that they had lids; it made it easy to refrigerate any leftovers.

With all the worries about chemicals in children’s products these days, it feels good to go with a brand you can trust. Two brands I definitely trust are Atlantis Natural and ThinkBaby, which is why I was so excited about the ThinkBaby Feeding Set from Atlantis Natural. The feeding set is perfectly designed for small hands, but it makes life easy for grownups too, because it’s dishwasher safe. The ThinkBaby Feeding Set is the perfect addition to any family’s home.

2010 Holiday Gift Guide – Rothschild – Quality & Affordable Kids’ Coats Review And Giveaway

Rothschild

Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of snow – playing with it, making giant snowmen, having snow fights….the works.

Living in a hot and humid country leaves you desiring and loving snow like a desert rider craves green trees and cool water. So, when I moved to a chilly country (where there was snow as well – Yay!) with cold, dry winds that burn your skin and sweep through your warm, protective layers, and greet your shivering, miserable bones, I was pretty excited.

And that’s where the bright, fluffy Rothschild Kids’s winter jackets come in. When I received this Sporty Snowflake Winter Jacket for review, I was so excited to put it on my daughter. It came just in time.

rothschildrothschild1

There are many reasons I like this winter jacket. Let me list a few of them for your benefit.

• Color – It’s a vivid raspberry and orange colour combo one (I love that fruity burst of colour of much, I wish they had it in adult sizes!). There are many other gorgeous colours available as well, warm turquoise, cocoa, white, lilac ice, black, eggplant and more – take your pick.

• It’s a pretty heavyweight jacket that can combat all sorts of cold weather.

• I really like the neat stitching, the embroidery and the attractive design, with accent piping and quilting. Plus it has a 100% polyester lining.

• As an added bonus, I get an adorable matching fleece hat and a soft, matching scarf to keep my lovely angel warm and snuggly.

• It’s a Rothschild creation – why would you ever need another reason??? The company has been making coats and hats and other winter wear for kids since the past 125 years!

This is what their website will tell you about the makers of the lovely winter jackets:

In a story that began over 125 years ago, Samuel Rothschild, a Frankfurt born itinerant peddler, sold coats to workers in Pennsylvania from his horse-drawn cart. Today, two families and a century later, S. Rothschild is the foremost label for quality coats and outerwear for children in the United States.

For over five generations, mothers have turned to S. Rothschild for beautiful coats, jackets and prams for girls and boys from newborn to pre-teen. A coat for every occasion.

This sporty snowflake winter jacket even has a Velcro hood that’s removable. So, I can easily remove it if it’s just isn’t that chilly.

If you want to know more, just do a Google search and you’ll have tons of proud mothers with their kids all looking cuddly and cute in the Rothschild’s winter wear and the mamas happy as can be.

2010 Holiday Gift Guide – B. Toys Review And Giveaway

natural baby goods holiday banner

welcome

Every parent knows that a busy baby is a happy baby.

That’s when you can do your chores and take care of your own needs and family’s needs, without the wailing and the constant demands.

As adorable as your precious bundle of joy is, there are times when most parents just want some time to themselves –whether it’s to relax and unwind with a book or have quality time with the spouse – or maybe you want to have some fun with your kids and take pleasure in their delightful giggling.

What do you do?

One answer – TOYS!

Or at least the right toys – preferably brightly hued with lots of yellow and red – a little noisy, a little squishy, a little chewy and a whole lot of fun.

Need suggestions?

Elemenosqueeze_CC_v04_0001

btoys

Elemenosqueeze A to Z architectural blocks – that’s what you should get for your child – whether she’s a 6 month old cute little toddler ready to grab these colourful chewable blocks (completely safe and BPA free) or a 3 year old mischievous boy ready to build & stack them and then cause some seriously destruction.

Hours of fun is absolutely guaranteed as your kid squeals in delight in the tub (yes, you can make bath time fun too!) and learns his/her alphabet while indulging in some creative fun.

I would like to call it ‘the lifesaver blocks’! Reason – My life is more productive now that my two and a half year old daughter is busy constructing castles for hours.

hellophone

hellophone2

Another cool toy that any kid up-to the really naughty age of five will appreciate is the holiday hellophone – a perfect Christmas gift or a lovely birthday present. Here’s why I recommend it – my daughter enjoys the myriad number of songs and sounds loaded in the phone plus my mommy records messages for her that she can actually listen to!

Another cool thing is that unlike most toy cell phones in the market, this one will actually feel like a real one to your kid.

Why?

Because your little devil will shout in joy when the holiday hellophone makes a call back and your baby can answer it.

Almost all kids like noisy toys the most, specially the boys. These gorgeous mock kid cell phones come with a pack of batteries and loaded with 3 pre-recorded messages.

So you have two awesome toys to choose for your kids now – if they like banging and destroying and chewing stuff, then just get the Elemenosqueeze – you will not regret that buy.

But if you have a 4 year old who wants something more than bath toys and has a desire to project daddy, then get him the holiday hellophone – he will be delighted to hear daddy’s voice through the pre-recorded message.

Go get them now at the B. Toys website – click here.

2010 Holiday Gift Guide – PSP InviZimals Game with Camera Review And Giveaway

December 8, 2010 by

natural baby goods holiday banner

If your child has a gaming system, you already know that there are a plethora of video games out there. Fantasy, music, role-playing, you name it, there’s a game for it. But I can guarantee that you’ve never seen a game quite like inviZimals for PSP. This game takes interactive to a whole new level, turning your child’s world into an real life video game.

invizimals

The inviZimals PSP Entertainment Pack comes with everything you need to play this awesome new game. It includes the PSP-3000 system in a brilliant blue. The new PSP has all kinds of features, including Wi-Fi for accessing online games and programs, a microphone and a great-quality LCD screen. Included in the Entertainment Pack is a camera, which you need to play inviZimals, a 1 GB memory stick and a Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs disc, which you can watch directly on the PSP.

inviZimals is a whole new way of gaming. After attaching the camera to the PSP, the gamer travels around their house, yard or a nearby park, looking at the screen. Imaginary creatures will appear on the screen, and the player has to capture them, by yelling into the microphone, slapping them or shooting them. Then, after the creature is captured, they can be battled against other monsters, or evolved to create a better monster.

This game was truly amazing to see. The camera accurately captured my surroundings, and the monsters looked very real. The built in microphone and sensors can detect if you’ve “attacked” the monsters and captured them, and then you get to keep the monster. The interactive component is very fun too: you can battle your monsters against friends’ monsters via the Internet connection.

I was also very impressed by the new PSP 3000. The color was very attractive, and the graphics were superb quality, especially for such a compact player. The Wi-Fi capability opens up a whole world of possibilities, including surfing the web and listening to Internet radio. With the microphone, you can chat with fellow gamers over the Internet, or even make calls using Skype. The PSP Entertainment Pack opens up a whole new world of gaming.

If you have a child who loves to play video games, the PSP Entertainment Pack is the ultimate gift. On the new PSP you can play games over the Internet, watch movies or listen to music. The included inviZimals games is a blast for kids of all ages, and never gets old because of its use of the player’s surrounding environment. Any kid will love capturing the monsters, building them up and battling them against their friends’ monsters. The PSP Entertainment Pack with inviZimals will keep any child entertained and amused for hours.

On the Fly Bottle Warmer Review And Giveaway

December 8, 2010 by

On-the-go parents and caregivers to babes know how important it is to supply a warm bottle to their child–the only problem is that it is often very frustrating to find a place to warm up that bottle!

From now on, you need look no further than your diaper bag–the On the Fly Bottle Warmer has solved the cold bottle syndrome!

Whether toting a bottle of formula or breast milk, this smart bottle warmer will quickly become an indispensable item you will not leave home without.

Your baby is sure to be happier, too–did you know that warmed milk helps calm your child by releasing Tryptophan, Serotonin & Melatonin? The On The Fly bottle warmer heats the bottle to approximately the same temperature as mother’s breastmilk, making it easier to digest.

Simple to activate, this portable warmer does not use electricity or batteries! In two easy steps your baby’s bottle will start warming and be at that perfect temperature in roughly 30 minutes.

As illustrated above, you simply place the breastmilk or prepared formula bottle in the On The Fly™ BottleSOC and then pull up outer layer of the BottleSOC. Once the BottleSOC is on, wrap the air activated warmer around the inner layer of the BottleSOC, pull down outer layer of the BottleSOC and away you go! Thirty minutes later, your baby can drink a warmed bottle of milk. If a 30-minute wait seems too long to warm a bottle, keep in mind that formula and breast milk retain nutrients better when warmed slowly.

The BottleSOC comes in two sizes and fits most brands of bottles. Each warmer lasts for a full day of feedings (12-hours).  Starting at $18.99, the On The Fly™ bottle system can seem a bit pricey for a bottle warmer. However, I believe the benefits of a naturally warmed bottle heated by an entirely portable and extremely easy to use product outweigh the cost. You can buy both the BottleSOC and the replacement warmers online or find them in a store near you.

WIN IT!

One lucky Natural Baby Goods reader will a set of On the Fly Bottle Warmer.

2010 Holiday Gift Guide – Crane Cool Mist Humidifier Review

December 7, 2010 by
Filed under 2010 Holiday Gift Guide, Reviews

childish notions

crane

Christmas is just around the corner and you must be thinking of what to give away to your friends. A really good gift idea would be the Crane Cool Mist Humidifier that comes handy in any household with a child. It’s very affordable yet it’s packed with features plus it’s not bulky and boring compared to other humidifier that are out in the market right now. The Crane Cool Mist Humidifier helps provide relief from nasal congestion, cough and other flu symptoms. This is really worth having at home and here are some reasons why.

d_d_frog

It’s very quiet and does not produce a sound that bothers my little girl while she’s getting her good night’s sleep. This is really a good feature for me. The design is also very adorable, much to the pleasure of my 2 and a half-year-old daughter, because it’s not the plain and bulky type of humidifier that most kids don’t like seeing. There are 10 animal designs that are available for you to choose from such as the dragon, cow, duck, elephant, frog, hello kitty, panda, penguin, pig and tiger. You can even let your child choose what he or she likes, or if you are giving this as a Christmas gift, you can choose the design that you think they would like best.

It also features an automatic off function when its tank runs out of water so I don’t have to worry about it during the night. The Crane Cool Mist Humidifier can hold about 1 gallon of water in its removable tank, which is good enough to run up to 11 hours. It’s very easy to refill where I don’t have to be an expert to do it. Its removable tank can fit under most sinks so it’s convenient to refill without getting messy and wet. The humidifier can also produce 2.1 gallons of moisture output in a day. This way it can really add further relief from dry skin, sinus irritation, chapped lips and some allergies.

I like that it doesn’t consume too much power so I still get to save electricity while enjoying its benefits. It’s a pain to add another appliance at home to add up to the electricity bill but this humidifier won’t do that at all. There is also no need to buy expensive filters for this one. Buying this baby product won’t even hurt your budget because it doesn’t cost a lot. Its affordable price makes it a great addition to my baby’s room and a perfect gift idea.

I would very much recommend the Crane Cool Mist Humidifier to other parents and even give it away as gifts for the coming holiday season. You can also choose to give away other stuff like the Termobaby Kiddy Loo or a Daphne Bath Seat depending on how old the baby is from Childish Notions.
