Boon Inc. – The Bug Pod Bath Toy Scoop, Drain And Storage Review And Giveaway Ends 9/20 (US/CAN)

You’ve probably heard about Boon and their line of creative children’s products. They’ve been in all kinds of magazines lately, from Southern Living and Ladies Home Journal to American Baby. They’ve also been featured on a range of TV shows, including The Early Show, Ellen and the Today Show. If you haven’t heard the buzz, here’s a primer: Boon was born out of a designer’s frustration with a messy bathtub. Rebecca Finell was sick of bath toys all over her bathroom, and created the Frog Pod, a handy bath toy holder. Since then she has founded a business on innovative products that address common parenting challenges, which are both high-quality and safe.

bugPod

One of these amazing products is the Bug Pod, a variant of the original Frog Pod. The Bug Pod is the ultimate, all in one bath toy holder. The Bug Pod does many things at once. Most importantly, it holds bath toys and keeps them out of the way when it’s not bath time. The holder also has drains, so that the toys can dry out and stay that way. It comes with a wall-mounted base, instead of suction cups, so that the Bug Pod never falls off the walls.

One of the cool things about the Bug Pod is that it’s also a bath toy scoop. When bath time is over, it’s a snap to just scoop the toys up and store them in the Bug Pod. But that’s not all the Bug Pod can do. It also has space to store shampoo, conditioner or soap, keeping them out of slippery toddler hands. Finally, the bug’s cute antennas are the perfect shape and size for holding a little loofah.

I was really excited to try out this Bug Pod, because, like most moms of toddlers, my daughter’s bath toys were taking over our bathroom. I’ve tried mesh bags on suction cups, but they always fall off the wall, and I worry about them hitting my daughter’s head. Also, I’ve been looking for a way to limit my daughter’s growing bath toy collection, and this seemed like the perfect way. I told her that she could keep as many toys as would fit in the Bug Pod, and the rest we would donate to someone who needed them.

Although my daughter wasn’t super excited about giving away some of her rubber duckies, her excitement over the Bug Pod quickly overshadowed this minor pitfall. She loved how cute the ladybug looked on our bathtub wall, and she had a blast scooping up her toys with it after bath time. Also, with the Bug Pod, I didn’t have to worry about her getting hold of her baby soap and spilling it all over herself. The Bug Pod has truly made bath time an enjoyable activity for everyone in the family.

If you have a child who loves their bath toys, the Bug Pod will make a huge difference in your life. No more suction cups, no more bath toys taking over your bathroom, and no more spilled soap when you turn your back. The Bug Pod by Boon is the perfect addition to any family’s bath time, and it will make everyone in your family happy.

WIN IT!

One lucky Natural Baby Goods reader will receive the bug pod from Boon Inc.

Weboo Shoes Review And Giveaway Ends 9/18 (US/CAN)

Finding the right shoes for your child can be a struggle. As a parent, you want to make sure that they get the right support and structure for their growing feet, but all your child cares about is how cool and fun they look. Well, Weboo’s shoes meet everyone in the middle. Weboo makes children’s shoes that are super cute and fun to wear, but with all the foot protection and support you’re looking for.

webooshoes

The reason Weboo shoes are so good for your child’s feet is their innovative WeFit System. The WeFit system is based on research and recommendations by pediatricians and podiatrists and makes shoes the right fit for your growing child. They feature shoe flexibility, un-tapered foot beds and arch supports. The WeFit system also uses a revolutionary ExoTuff exterior, which keeps feet cool and allows air flow within the shoe. Finally, the Weboo shoes come with a built in sock liner to keep feet dry and comfortable.

CIMG1761CIMG1763

The Weboo shoes come in all different kinds of fun animals, including zebras, puffer fish, sharks and dinosaurs. I received the Tisha slip-on, which is a shoe designed as a pony, complete with mane and tail. The detailing on the shoe is incredible: the texture of the shoe has grooves to look like real horse hair, there are little indents in the front for the nose holes and two realistic looking horse ears poke out of the front. Two brilliantly colored eyes and a matching bridle round out this adorable shoe.

My daughter was immediately smitten with these shoes, as I had suspected she would be. She loved the bright colors and the dangly strings that represented its mane. She wanted to wear them everywhere and with everything. Wherever we went, other kids would become fascinated by her shoes, and would come up close to get a better look. Tons of parents asked me where they could get their child a pair. She also liked playing with them. One day she got bored in her car seat and took the shoes off, and happily spent the rest of the car ride making horse noises and galloping them up and down the seat back.

I was glad they made her so happy, but I also liked them because of how high-quality they were. The shoes were very sturdy and made to withstand the test of time. The air holes and built-in socks kept my daughter’s feet cool, which makes a big difference when she’s outside all day in the sun. Also, they were super easy to slip on and off, making it so much easier to get out the door in the morning. I definitely plan on buying her a few more pairs.

Weboo shoes bring the best of both worlds to children’s shoes: fun and support. Their imaginative line of shoes will delight any child, and the innovative shoe design will let you rest assured that their feet are protected and comfortable. With back to school just around the corner, these shoes are right in style and perfect for kids of all ages.

BabeeGreens Organic Cloth Diaper Review And Giveaway Ends 9/15(US/CAN)

August 27, 2010 by

babeegreens-logo

Being a mom is one of the greatest things that can happen to a woman like me. Motherhood brings out the best in me and makes me the person I never imagined myself to be. My love for my child always comes first, and the need to protect my baby from any form of harm makes me extra selective on things I want my child to use. This is a mother’s nature and nobody can take it against her. This very nature of a mother is what Babee Greens takes into consideration when it comes up with the Growing Greens Cotton Diaper.

Growing_Greens_C_4be2c4d6bcda3_200x200

This magnificent diaper fits a newborn of 5-10 lbs up to a toddler of 18-35 lbs. It is made of the softest fleece, 100% unbleached cotton and natural rubber elastic which makes it totally harmless for my baby’s tender skin.

It has an umbilical cord cutout that promotes healing for the newborn babies. What more, it has a built-in snap closures so there is no need for diaper pins. It has fitted elastic legs and waistbands and the opening makes it comfortably fit and offers protection against leaks. So, it is perfect for toddlers who play hard and rough. I do not need to worry about leaks on the carpet or the sheets. So, wherever or however my child plays, I am very much sure that she is comfortable and that I do not need to worry about the mess.

It is also the best for my baby who is presently being potty trained. Since it has an elastic waistband, my daughter simply pulls it down herself which makes it more convenient for her and makes training easier for me. Growing Greens really satisfies my baby’s need and mine as well.

My meticulous nature as a mother, however, does not stop there. It is not enough that my baby’s diaper is comfortable and that it is convenient for her potty training, it must also be safe for her sensitive skin. Growing Greens organic cotton diaper is earth friendly and absolutely safe as it is made from certified organic cotton free from harmful pesticides and chemicals. It is certainly better than conventional cotton fabrics which are sprayed with pesticides, fertilized with synthetic fertilizer and bleached with Chlorine to achieve cotton whiteness. Growing Greens, on the other hand, uses organic cotton which is fertilized by organic matter and safe peroxide to whiten the cotton.

Now, I do not have anything to worry about. By using Growing Greens Cotton Diaper for my daughter, I am very much assured that my baby uses only the best, and why not? She deserves only the best I could give her, comfort, convenience and safety.

Mother knows what is best for her baby and a smart mother only chooses that which makes her baby feel good the whole day or night, while playing or sleeping. Moreover, a smart mother also thinks about the welfare of Mother Earth not for her but for the next generation in which her child belongs.

Z. Daisy’s Eco-friendly Binkie Bungee™ Pacifier Clip Review And Giveaway Ends 9/14 (US/CAN)

August 25, 2010 by

Z. Daisy: for the ones you love like crazy!

Z. Daisy is an adorable boutique accessory store for children. Started by two friends and moms who were passionate about creating unique items for their kids, Z. Daisy is now well-known for their Binkie Bungee pacifier clips.

My oldest daughter never cared much for pacifiers. I always felt badly for other moms who had to constantly fetch dropped pacifiers for their crying children. Then my second daughter came along and I knew instantly what those other moms went through. At any given moment,  Caroline’s precious “binkie” could fall out, leaving me scrambling to find it and ensure it was clean.

That’s where Z. Daisy‘s invention enters and saves my sanity and my daughter’s lungs! Their pacifier clips are set apart from others on the market because they’re cute, soft, can hold any pacifier securely (so important!), and are available in an organic, eco-friendly fabric option.

Before I had my children, I rolled my eyes at organic and eco-friendly fabric. I thought that was going a little too far. Then my children came along and they put everything in their mouths and clung to soft plushy toys. It did not take me long to realize that they were constantly being exposed to the chemicals used to treat those fabrics, not to mention, of course, that the way those fabrics were most likely not made in an eco-friendly way!

It is so nice to know that Z. Daisy’s Eco-friendly Binkie Bungee(TM) is made from Okeo-tex certified fabric. This type of fabric is manufactured without the use of harmful dyes or chemicals. For a fun, and further eco-friendly touch,   the Eco-friendly Binkie Bungee(TM) comes packaged using recycled cereal boxes! I thought that was so fun and my older (non-pacifier-toting child!) got a huge kick out of that.

The Eco-friendly Binkie Bungees come in three different colors–the quintessential (Earth) Blue and (Peaceful) Pink along with an adorable (Go) Green color.  In addition to the eco-friendly pacifier clips, Z. Daisy also sells an organic Binkie Bungee, made from 100% organic cotton.

The Binkie Bungee(TM) pacifier clips come with an innovative universal attachment allowing you to use all types of pacifiers (including MAM). Caroline, our baby, likes a pacifier that has a very small hole that most pacifier clips do not fit through–no worries, now, though! The Z. Daisy Binkie Bungee fits inside the holder with ease.

We were given a Go Green! Binkie Bungee to review and loved the way it clipped onto a sturdy or stationery object (in our case, the carseat strap) and attached to Caroline’s pacifier with no signs of budging. Past pacifier holders that we’ve owned were not created with Caroline’s preferred pacifier of choice–we’d struggle to thread a ribbon through her pacifier’s clip and then have it promptly fall out a few minutes later. Not so with Z. Daisy’s pacifier holders! We were very impressed with their quality of construction, incredible softness, and eco-friendly nature.

If your child has yet to latch onto a certain brand of pacifier, Z. Daisy sells an incredible-sounding organic pacifier made by Natursut. Not only is it made from pure, natural rubber but it also does not contain artificial colors, chemicals, BPA, or PVC. To top it all off, this organic pacifier it comes in two sizes/stages (0-6 months and 6 months +) and is orthodontic. Of course, an organic pacifier complements Z. Daisy’s eco-friendly pacifier clips perfectly!

Z. Daisy sells many other adorable products in their children’s boutique. You can find sweet travel blankets, larger stroller blankets, blankie bungees (another ingenious product!), and even the perfect new baby gift! I am definitely smitten with Z. Daisy–and not just because of their eco-friendly and organic products. I love the company’s passion for their faith and their efforts to bless others through Z.Daisy. Z. Daisy currently contributes to Life International and, as of January 2010, they now donate a percentage of Z. Daisy‘s profits to Living Water. Their donations made possible through your purchases help build wells around the world for people to have clean drinking water. Talk about the ultimate eco-friendly gesture!

Stay Away From BPA

August 23, 2010 by

Recently, you can find many news articles warning the public about high level of chemical contents found in the blood/body of many Americans and Canadians and this issue has become too serious to be ignored by anyone. We used to be ignorant about this potential health threat and everyone took things for granted by assuming that all products in the market were safe. If you still have this old thinking embedded in you, you should think again.

After many tests have been conducted, the results showed that over 90% of tested populations were found to have a significant level of BPA in our blood.  How BPA get into our blood? The answer is simple, drinking water from plastic bottle and eating food packed in plastic packaging.

As parents we should be alert to long term impacts of this finding. We should reduce our family’s exposure to such chemical. From the very start, we should give our precious little a clean, green life style that is free of dangerous chemicals.  There are many products out in the market that is safe and free of BPA and other harmful chemical substances.  From pacifiers, milk bottles to the water bottle they use in school.  BPA should not be part of our society. It should be considered a banded substance. I just want to let everyone know that there are lots of harmful substances in many daily products we use everyday. These are invisible to our eyes and yet can cause severe long-term health hazards.   But don’t panic, you should be informed that there are options and choices out there that are safer, healthier and natural that we can buy, for our precious babies, children and even ourselves.  We all want our lives to be long and healthy and to achieve that goal the lease we can do is to “Stay Away from BPA” and any products not made of BPA free materials.

Little Twig Bodymilk Review

August 23, 2010 by
Filed under Baby Products, Baby Skin Care, Reviews

My daughters love water. During the summer you can almost always find them in the pool, ocean, lake, sprinkler, or a bath! All that exposure to water, though, dries out their normally-soft and smooth skin. When Little Twig contacted us about testing their natural and organic baby lotion we knew we’d use it–we just didn’t know we’d love it!

Little Twig is a baby bodycare company started by a concerned mom who wanted to make sure that only the most natural and best products went on her child’s skin. Nearly all of the ingredients used in their lotions are organic and all-natural. While I am thankful that my children do not have overly sensitive skin, I still know that using all-natural organic lotion products like the ones made by Little Twig will still be of great benefit to their overall health.

If you do have a child (or children!) that reacts to the synthetic, allergenic materials found in most baby care products then it is time to rejoice! Little Twig created an organic lotion made just for sensitive skin–their Extra Mild Unscented formula contains soothing botanical products. In addition to those skin soothers, this hypoallergenic lotion is free of soy, wheat, and nut additives and does not contain mineral oil or paraben!

We had the opportunity to review both Little Twig’s scented and their  unscented bodymilk. We first sampled the Calming Lavender bodymilk. I suppose I should add a small disclaimer: lavender is my favorite scent with lemon verbena following close behind. It goes without saying that a lotion that combines both scents (for their Calming Lavender bodymilk is a blend of lavender and lemon extracts and natural oils) would be the ultimate scented lotion for me to use on my daughters’ skin.

Little Twig did not disappoint. The Calming Lavender bodymilk is very mild and oh-so-smooth. It felt wonderfully silky coming out of the package and easily blended into my daughters’ skin. I found that a little bodymilk goes a very long way which means that it is not only eco-friendly, it’s also economical! I loved that the scent was a perfect blend of two scents, neither overwhelming but both soothing and perfect for the post-bath, pre-bedtime routine.

The following evening, we sampled the Extra Mild Unscented bodymilk. This lotion felt exactly the same–my toddler loved the silky feel of it so much that she found our sample and squeezed it all onto her hands:

While I was disappointed to lose so much lotion, it was a great excuse for me (and the rest of my family members!) to try the lotion as well–we simply took the excess off of my toddler’s hands and used it on our arms and legs. Everyone commented on how light but moisturizing this organic lotion was–we couldn’t get enough of it!

Both bodymilk lotions felt great on the skin and kept my children’s skin very moisturized. I did not love the unscented bodymilk’s scent (yes, even though it is “unscented” it still has a distinct scent!) but I know that the hypoallergenic nature of this organic lotion product is a huge benefit to parents and children alike who have to deal with sensitive skin.

Little Twig‘s natural and organic products don’t just stop at bodymilk–they also sell baby powder (a rarity these days!), diaper cream (claimed by other reviewers to be the best on the market!), body oil (in a calming lavender scent), bubble baths (complete with scented or unscented options), baby wash and shampoo (tear free of course!), mineral sunscreen (SPF 30+), and fun bath accessories (think adorable washcloths, mitts, and towels).

Little Twig‘s long term goal is to “nurture families organically”. They are so passionate about connecting parents with eco-friendly baby products and educating families on how to be more environmentally savvy that they created a blog and parent space to accomplish just that! You’ll find many eco-friendly tips from how to choose organic foods and clothing to how to make wise choices that will help sustain the environment.

In addition to their helpful resources, Little Twig encourages recycling–the extent of offering any customer a 30% discount on future purchases when they return four empty full-sized Little Twig product bottles! Talk about generous, eco-friendly, and wallet friendly!

In addition to their great resources, Little Twig is full of fun and creativity–they have six child-friendly “mascots” (see picture above), monthly contests on their Facebook page and an active Twitter account that features tips and savings!

If you are looking for a new baby lotion that contains organic and all-natural ingredients, I wholeheartedly recommend Little Twig’s products. You can buy the Little Twig products online or in local stores (available in the US and Canada).

Little Twig 25% off discount code: 25_Aug2010
Valid on August 24, 2010 and August 25 2010.
