The Safe Sippy Cup Review and Giveaway (CLOSED)

I received a Safe Sippy stainless steel cup from Raising Rascals and I must say I am very impressed with the quality and feel of The Safe Sippy. My daughter is 13 months old now and I have tried a few different sippy cups from different brands. None of them has comparable quality as the Safe Sippy. The other brands I tried have spout that is either too flat and wide, or it is too pointy. For the ones with the flat spout my daughter has to put her whole face into the cap in order to drink water from it and some are even leaky too. Wooden Toys

In my previous review of Frog Wooden Book from Chelona, we know that wood has natural antibacterial properties. Since my daughter turned to one year old, she is more and more active. I keep looking for some natural toys for her and want her to learn things during playing. One day I found this website http://www.finewoodentoys.com/, there are tons of wooden toys and puzzles as well. She loves those lift-out puzzles. With jumbo knobs, she can easily grasp it and the colorful wooden piece is also easy to match the full-color illustrations underneath. She knows she should match them but the skill not mature yet. She likes to learn new things and this wooden puzzle keeps her busy for a while and I can take a rest to read some newspaper.

She also likes vehicle toys. This website has all the kinds of wooden vehicles you can think of. One of the important things is that it’s colored with non-toxic, child safe dyes. I also don’t need to worry about that some small metal piece fell off that my daughter might eat. Because I heard of the scary story that a little boy sucked a very small piece into his nose from those metal toy cars. I am careful of choosing the safe toys for my daughter now.

Non-toxic Kitchen Cleanliness

You know all those great kitchen habits you have read about and considered enacting for years? The birth of your baby is a great time to put them in action. Your first move, if you haven’t done so already, should be to throw away your sponge! It is the easiest place to grow bacteria in your kitchen. Use instead rags or old cotton diapers and label them with their intended use: BABY FACE, COUNTERS, DISHES, APPLIANCES, etc. A towel for CLEAN THINGS can help you avoid cross-contaminations. You’ll need to convince your spouse and anybody else in your kitchen to go along with your new regime and not interchange the rags. Color-coding can work well if you have older children who can’t yet read. If you have paper towels in your kitchen, use the non-chlorine-bleached, recycled paper ones.

For spills, have handy a spray bottle of nontoxic kitchen cleaner. Vinegar mixed with lemon juice works well on countertops; avoid chlorine bleach, which is highly toxic. Meat-preparation areas should always be washed with hot soapy water. Remind everyone to wash their hands regularly with warm water and soap and dry them on a clean towel, both before cooking and after handling food. 

If your baby is spending a lot of time on your kitchen floor, make sure the soap you are using for mopping is benign. If it’s less than totally pure, wipe the floor with a damp rag after you mop. 

Finally, remember to clean your kitchen garbage container regularly with a nontoxic kitchen spray or in a bathtub with hot soapy water. By the time your baby is a year old, you will want to keep the container latched.
